Sad to hear of the passing of Manchester City legend Colin Bell - he was often seen at Moss Lane sitting incognito at the back of the main stand for Alty night games. RIP
-
I saw him at Maine Road a lot. Great player. Sad days.
-
Very sad to hear the news
What a cultured player he was.
RIP Colin Bell.

I was privileged to see Colin have an outstanding game at Wembley when England beat Sweden 3-1 in 1968. He was such a cool player, and always seemed to have time on the ball. He seldom wasted a pass. RIP Colin, and thanks for the memory.
Incidentally, if you'd told me that England's goalkeeper that night would later turn out for Alty, I doubt I'd have believed you.

very sad news indeed, was one of my favourite city players
-
I saw the clips on the local news last night. The pitches looked like the Somme compared with Moss Lane.

It's a very different game since Colin Bells era.

I'm not denying it. It was just an observation

Sorry, my comment was just a comment. Nothing critical or negative intended in any way.

If he was as good as he was on those sorts of pitches (and he was) just imagine how good he'd be today.
-
No offence taken CRT Butty.
I never went to games when I was a child but I do remember watching The Big Match in Black and White on a Sunday afternoon. Edgeley Park was a bit like that on Saturday with the piles of snow all around the perimeter.

Which makes me ponder on the likes of Messi on a mudbath pitch.
-
I think he'd be outstanding, like Colin, on any surface. Class always tells.
He'd be great up front even on our Moss Lane pitch! 😉
-
Sad to hear this. I used to deliver his papers when I was a lad. Really nice bloke and a great player.

R.I.P. one of the true greats
