Does 100% chance of rain mean it's going to rain all the time or just that it is definitely going to rain at some point today?

Rain is pretty light here at the moment, so hopefully the pitch is taking it ok. I'm sure we would have heard something by now if an inspection was necessary.

Light maybe, but persistent. If it rains right through the match as forecast, conditions will be less than ideal.

I seem to remember Dave Foreshaw once claiming he used to get 20p a bird for shooting the pigeons at Flixton (about as much as their top  player was on, as I recall). Two birds with one stone?

There must be some households of seven locally who might be persuaded. I know of one at any rate which includes someone who did some coaching for Alty a few years ago, and now works for Halifax. Very impressed if anyone can name him...

Chris Senior?
where is he these days ?

Ian...Chris...Joel...

Ian WAS Senior senior and Chris was Senior Junior...but now...

Ian is Senior senior senior, Chris is Senior junior senior and Joel is Senior junior junior!

Not any of those anyway. I met a Halifax supporter on holiday at Coniston recently who knows him as Milly. Brian Flynn might know him. That's enough clues I think!

I remember Ian Senior's last match at Ashton in Alty's only ever Carthium cup tie, as an emergency loan signing (I can't remember the emergency). I know he is senior, but that was ridiculous! Suffice to say he was past his best. Fair play to hom for stepping in though.

The last time I saw Senior senior senior playing was, IIRC, a Cheshire Cup Final!

So long ago!

For what it's worth, the answer is Chris Millington. He has previously worked for Oldham, Macc and Curzon Ashton, and is now assistant manager at Halifax. He comes from a prominent Catholic family in Timperley, hence the reference to Brian Flynn, and must be one of very few National League coaches to have asked for a week off during the season for the annual pilgrimage (to Walsingham, in August last year), granted by his friend Steve Wilder. It didn't seem to affect Halifax's tremendous start,  and certainly they seem to have been doing something right in recent times.

Funnily enough, the legendary Jamie Phoenix also came from a local Catholic family...
