Thats that sorted then...... ;D

ALTY SIGN KEEPER
Following the release of goalkeeper Russell Saunders a few days ago, Altrincham FC have signed 25 year-old James Coates to challenge for Stuart Coburn's no.1 jersey. James (d.o.b. February 22, 1985) has previous experience at Moss Lane, having been a trialist in 2008-09 pre-season, and also having faced Alty several times whilst playing for other clubs including Vauxhall Motors, Northwich and Worcester City.

James is a former under-21 Welsh international who had an early League spell at Mansfield Town and a loan period with Boston United. His former non-League teams include Worcester City, Moor Green, Hucknall Town, Leigh RMI, TNS, Kidsgrove Athletic, Vauxhall Motors, Abbey Hey and Northwich Victoria. He joined joined Rhyl from Northwich Vics in August 2009.

Think we have a good squad now ready for the season, hope to see him play tomorrow.

To be perfectly honest, he didn't fill me with confidence in his last spell - let's hope that, like a good wine, he's matured with age !

He's a very good keeper, and has an absolutely mammoth kick. Certainly one of the most physically fit and athletic keepers i've seen for a while. Will do well with a regular run of games in the event Stu is out of action.

Totally agree, working alongside a NL 'keeping legend can only be a good thing!

Sure he will do well if and when given the opportunity.

Always struck me as a touch too small in stature, but a more than able number two should stuart get injured. And hopefully an improvement on the last one....

No better than Saunders IMO but on our budget you take what you can to sit on the bench most weeks.

In fairness, he did nothing wrong when he came on tonight - and he's more vocal than I remember him being ! Time will tell.

On the subject of keepers has Acton officially left now? Not on the team photo and no squad number allocated.

Although not a big guy, he certainly has a big kick, last night he feathered one right down their keepers throat! god knows how far it would go if he really let one go!
