Whitby Town match thread
« on: August 21, 2017, 09:32:46 AM »

Whilst we haven't set the world on fire so far (setting light to a waste bin has looked beyond us at times), a win tomorrow could put us straight up to mid table. We are only six points adrift, and the top 11 clubs are separated by only two points.

Whitby had a decent win over Stalybridge (but then a few will do that - Steve Burr is the new Jim Harvey imho), but have lost their other two. We CAN win this, and if we follow up by beating bottom club Coalville on Saturday we'll be up and running. It's essential to boost the players' confidence.

Of course, this is Alty and we're traditionally Calpol for such strugglers, but the players and management know we fans won't accept what has been served up so far.

Let's get behind them to the highest possible level.....if we fail this week, we're definitely in trouble.

I agree and I dearly hope we can win, clearly we dominate possession just need to stick at least 2 in (given that the opposition will score).  After the unexpected results of last week I'm steeling my mind as to what to think if we lose. These things take time its just frustrating when we look like we are dominating.  I guess Arsenal fans last sat (who got their highest ever possession stats and lost) are equally as bemused

I pray that Disney is fit and Jones is clear to play.

                         Thompson

Disney    Jones   Harrison   Short

            Moult  Richman Sheridan

                         Poole

              Hulme      Peers

Alty 1-0 Whitby. Poole  (free kick)

Agree with this. We just need to lose the habit of failing to beat teams down the bottom and around us.

The league should/hopefully look a lot more healthier by this time next week.
Can't make tomorrow but will be there Saturday and at Witton next Monday.

The bookies have more faith in Alty than we do. We are even money favourites to win tomorrow.

Agree with this team but think it will be

----------------Thompson
Disney-----Harrison----jones-----short
Johnson----Sheridan----Moult---Hancock
---------------------Poole
--------------------Peers

If Disney and jones are cleared to play. Still hoping another striker arrives on loan

Alty - evens
Draw - 13/5
Whitby - 15/8

Their supporters coach leaves at 2pm, let's hope they are warmly welcomed in the bar for a prematch drink then directed to the appropriate section of the stadium once the FOOTBALL MATCH begins

It was a 60/40 in our favour and that's being kind.

On my way home from Disneyland, hopefully Phil and the boys will make tonight a fairytale ending rather than another Cruella defeat.

3-0 to the Alty

I certainly agree that once we score one outfield goal, some poor team is going to get trounced. Hope it's tonight.
