Altrincham FC First Team / Half Baked Idea-Points or Pounds
« on: February 17, 2011, 02:24:28 PM »
Here's an idea I've just come up with, it's a bit weird, so feel free to tell me if it's stupid/unworkable, but here goes.

Every game a group of us donate some money to this, can be a small amount like a pound. Then we pool all the money and bet it all on Alty losing. If Alty do lose, then we donate all the money to the club.

This would mean that every game we play, the club either gets points, or a small amount of money, meaning we will always have a small positive, after every game. If we are repeatedly losing, then the management team have a little more money to help bring in reinforcements.

Of course this would rely on fans taking money out of their own pocket, like the bucket collection.

Just an idea, feel free to shoot me down in flames if I overlooked something obvious.

Altrincham FC First Team / Crawley in Biggest Shocker to Date!
« on: February 12, 2011, 01:50:38 PM »
Speaking ahead of Crawley's match against Wrexham assistant manager Paul Raynor spouted: "They're a team full of confidence. They've got a fantastic manager (Dean Saunders)".

If you say so Paul!

Also I believe their supporters' coach to Wrexham was cancelled due to lack of interest.  ;D

Altrincham FC First Team / Coly
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:03:40 PM »
I know that present day Graham Heathcote would have looked comfortable in tonight's midfield and probably scored a hat trick but Momo Coly didn't seem a half bad player, looked strong physically.

Think he would perhaps be worth a sub appearance or two.

Altrincham FC First Team / New Player
« on: December 31, 2010, 03:23:20 PM »
Peterborough United defender Carl Piergianni has joined Altrincham FC on open-ended work experience, and will available for tomorrow's game against Wrexham. He will have squad no. 26. The official Peterborough United website says that "Carl Piergianni came through the youth ranks at London Road and was awarded a professional contract by manager Gary Johnson following discussions with the youth department. Piergianni is dominant in the air, tenacious in the tackle and another that puts his body on the line for the cause. A local lad, he is expected to gain experience on loan this season." With 1 substitute appearance in League One this season, Carl has playing regularly for Peterborough Reserves this season and last and scored in their 3-0 win over Luton Town reserves in November last year.

RIP Dale Roberts, the Rushden & Diamonds/England C keeper

what a shame, he had a really good future, last year's R & D player of the season.

What are your favourite memories of the Alty legend? I remember Graham saying at the fans' forum that he rang him up saying everyone in town thought he should go.

Altrincham FC First Team / RESERVES
« on: December 05, 2010, 05:31:09 PM »
Right, I know it's been brought up before but with a change of managers I just thought I'd do the topic again, especially as Ken has been making a few hints towards it

I don't know all the circumstances about what happened to our last reserve team, wasn't there a problem with the league? Even if we were in a poor standard of local league I think it'd still be worth it. And if not then what happened to playing occasional friendlies?

I think we could really do with a reserve team personally, even if they aren't in a formal league. Not only for developing youth but this season how good would it be if Twiss, Hewson ect had 4 or 5 more games under their belts? I also think it's a bit of a waste of our youth team, it seems to turn up some decent talent that could possibly be good standard players, Bennett, Gamble from pre-season, Woods who played in the CSC this year. What do you lot all think?

Altrincham FC First Team / Postponed Games this Year
« on: November 25, 2010, 10:46:33 AM »
Hopefully we won't have anywhere near as many postponements as we ddi last year.

Have Man U bought us frost covers this year or did I just imagine it?

Don't think I can cope if the weather's as bad as last year.
