Great FGr Comment about Dale
« on: November 15, 2008, 07:26:58 PM »

Alty were a far superior side who were yards quicker and more skilful. There were too many shocking performances to mention them all, but the worst culprit being Stonehouse who was completely out played by Johnson, and as gooseman says JH did nothing to change this.

Quite simply Johnson destroyed us. It has to be said he was one of the best players I ever seen at conference level though! He made a complete monkey of Joner too.

Some people on their give us some credit which is nice.

Apart from the full time players, I still have no idea why FGR think they are a bigger club than us or should be beating us.

851 with 70 away fans (including main stand) on a kids go free day does not bode well for the future...might have only just covered the away fans police bill

We expect to beat you because we have several times in the past. At our place, anyway. And with Mansfield, Burton and Kettering coming up, who can we hope to beat?

I thought we outplayed you in the second half but am now coming round to the thinking of some on our board that you just wound down because you knew you didn't have to try hard.

Well done, and good luck on Tuesday.

So, two FGR victories over Alty in four games at home counts as "several"...?!

Plus FGR have yet to win at Moss Lane in three attempts (two defeats and one draw).

According to the oracle that is John Laidlar, your home attendance against Alty was 851 (including 59 in the away end and 217 kids who got in for nothing).
Now, that really is something for Colin Peake to be worried about...

The BBC commentary for once gave us credit as a good looking side (bar the usual "we should be beating teams like Altrincham"). Sounds like an excellent performance all round.

Believe me, two wins by us is indeed 'several'

I remember that FGR fan who came on a few seasons back saying how big they were compared to us and how they would always get big attendances (despite them being in play offs and us in relegation it was pretty even), better players and all that boring stuff...

Must admit thought when you look at the honours you realise why they would think they are a 'bigger' club than little, Part-time Altrincham. Such a boring, pathetic club ... although they are a 'friendly' club ...  ;)

Four in total with the one in 1999!

Mister Flynn,

My apologies - I completely forgot about those two 1-1 draws against FGR during the 1999/2000 season!

Was the game at Moss Lane in December 1999 the day when Graham Heathcote resigned following the appointment of Stan Allan to Bernard Taylor's coaching set-up?

I think nailsworth hit me on the head after sampling a few pints of the black rat cider a distinctly cloudy, lip numbing brew.
