Title: Curzon Ashton match thread
Post by: taxi Phil on August 25, 2016, 06:32:32 PM
I'd start with THIS lineup.....NY will doubtless have a totally different mindset.

                                             Dawber

Patterson             Cyrus                    Moran                Sumner

                              Goodall                 Moult

Miller                      Bell                     Reeves             Lawrie

Assuming Miller is fit of course. Curzon seem to have tightened up at the back since shipping 10 in the first two games,  but we really do have to go for the jugular. We don't just need three points, we need to bolster the goal difference column.

I take us to win 3-1 (Moult pen, Reeves, Cyrus)

They only get 200 at home, so attendance 956.

Heathcote not worth a shout then at centre back?

There's easily enough time for two or three new faces! At the moment I'd go with

?
Patterson
Sumner
Moran
Cyrus
Goodall
Moult
Miller
Cregg
Lawrie
Reeves

Heathcote
Richman
Melz
Bell
Jones

I actually think we might lose.

Losing this is unthinkable. That crosses a line that NY cannot come back from to me.

I'm afraid that the last couple of games render what to some may be unthinkable definitely thinkable. There is a tendency to belittle Curzon, but they are at this level on merit & should not be treated with any less respect than any other club in this division. I for one try to be patient - normally I wouldn't look at league tables until 10 games have been played - but if we should gain 'nul points' from this Bank Holiday weekend I would expect the present management team to be asked to leave.

As has been mentioned get back to basics.

Never seen Sunmer or Hasler-Craig play and Cain only a youth game I think.

                   Dawber

Patterson   Moran Cyrus  Summer

Hasler   Goodhall Moult Cain

                    Lawrie
                   Reeves

Whatever systems we've bring playing cleary don't work for whatever reason. Get the ball wide and get service to Lawrie and Reeves.

Can't be any worse

Well done to Cirzon Ashton, in this league on merit. However, I wouldn't be able to look myself in the eye if I was in charge of this situation. Still, it is what it is.

For the record, no idea about the team but

Alty 3 (Patterson Sumner Moult)
Curzon Ashton    0

Att 594

Echo others comments, Curzon are where they deserve to be and so are we so no one will be expecting anything. My first game of the season tomorrow, think I'll recognise about 3 players.

That said if we don't win tomorrow the scenes come 4:50 are not going to be pretty, we've gone from beating Bristol Rovers, Tranmere and Grimsby in the last 2 years to this...

So you can imagine just how supporters of NEXT week's opponents feel !

I think Stockport fans can feel optimistic at last. They have bottomed out and are on their way back now. I'm not looking forward to that match.

What we need tomorrow is a victory, get this monkey off our back. Four points this weekend would be a reasonable return, six points would see it turn in to a steady start (aside from last Tuesday's embarrassment).

Surely it has to be two of Miller, Cregg or Cain for width and we abandon this packing in of central midfielders. Is the Portuguese lad available today?

Packing the midfield and having no width hasn't worked and it's painful to watch.

I believe Cyrus is a doubt

All recent new signings will play no doubt.

We'll scrap to a 3-1 defeat and after Young will do the obligatory 'I can see signs we are almost there' interview before we pull off a miraculous 1-1 draw at Kiddy on Monday.

Doomed!  :-[

The heart has been completely ripped out of this club. How can we have any empathy with players we don't know anything about and might only play once or twice.
Definitely the worst I have felt as an Alty fan, I don't feel I am watching my home town club anymore, just a bunch of strangers.

I'm glad you said that chesteralty, as it's exactly how I feel. I've noticed a distinct lack of singing at our matches this season, partly due to the lack of empathy fans feel towards the players. Some of the players from last season may not have showered themselves in glory, but at least we knew who they were. I've had to drag myself to the Fylde and Curzon games and it's still August!!! Ok, we're in a period of transition and I get that we have to try a number of players/formations out, but I really hope NY has a more settled plan moving forward - 3 new players a week is ridiculous, especially when we've barely seen the 'old' ones.

Speaks for itself....the guy gets rid of a good keeper who was voted by fans player of the year and puts two inexperienced keepers one of whom already gone....our top scorer on the bench and half the players this fool signed he obviously doesn't rate so why did he sign them?...more signed this week and we still cant get a result against Curzon at home....

Get rid please Mr Rowley....bring in a proper football manager.

...or preferably do the decent thing young and find a job you're actually good at and stop making my club a laughing stock.
