The hospital is in Baguley so could that be why. The majority of Alty people under 35 would have been born in Wythenshawe but wouldn't class themselves as being from there.

I'm also fairly certain an old Rothmans Football Yearbook had him down as being born in Alty.

First ex Unicorn Athletic player to play in England squad me thinks - played for Derek Calderbank I think - any current Unicorn players or management please correct me if I'm wrong.

Neil Mellor (Liverpool early to mid 2000s) was from Timperley - not sure if he an U21 albeit born in the centre of the universe whilst his Dad Ian was gigging at The Wednesday
