Best home crowds since the early 80s
« on: March 28, 2016, 05:43:42 PM »

We can't throw this away, apart from the second half of the 1990/91 season, our crowds are at their highest since the early 80s. We are running out of must win games. Next week really is that. We cannot afford to lose the next generation of fans by dropping down to play sh*t like Lowestoft and Brackley again. Get it sorted, I'm beyond getting cross, this is about the clubs future foundation.

Brackly in danger of going down so won't even have the consolation of a lunch at the Crewe arms.  It's a very northern conf north next year - Solihull going up.  I could be down to Gloucester as the only game south of B'ham, even Worcester are playing at Kiddy so don't really count

No city or united today will have helped but loads of other local games today you would think potential investors would  notice this

Please give the whole 'investors' thing a rest.  No one in their right mind 'invests' in a non league football club unless they are wanting to take a punt on doing a Fleetwood.  Even then I don't see how the owner is going to make a 'profit' given what he has put in - how is he going to take anything like that out again?  They are hardly going to generate a surplus of several million, even in league one are they?

If you want a donor then the size of the crowd is irrelevant - unless he is going to be measuring his donation against the number of people who appreciate it which would be a slightly odd approach

I'm merely pointing out potential maybe investors was the wrong term to use

We certainly have the potential to compete in this league.  however much we moan, we have been hampered by a number of long term injuries this year.  Coburn, Clee, Dens, Marshall, Griffith have all missed over half the season - 5 out of 18 of the initial squad is a massively unlucky run.  Griffith might not have been the man we needed but it cost us a player, Tim's form means we haven't missed Stu, the others have been costly.

Marshall missing has meant no competition at the back - a factor in Scott's form?  It also meant we have had to play Heathcote in more games than we would have wanted to (Colchester?)

Clee and Dens - massive misses.

This squad if even 80% of them are fit is good enough - add a couple of quality players, a leader and some creativity and we are a mid table team easy

Have to say the attendances have been very good all things considered. Perhaps this is where the community work is showing fruition. The social media side of things helps no doubt too. Well done to all concerned. Crowds sure as hell haven't gone up due to results.

I think the bigger crowds (and the hall) will get us a new director or sponsor through one of them catching the Alty bug and getting more involved. No coincidence that a lot of our board and sponsors are existing fans.

We should be able to compete in this league but it always seems such a struggle - Relegated four times in six seasons (albeit quite rightly reprieved three years running) - last season ok, this season not ok (we will know the outcome soon)

Looking like without more revenue we are always going to be in this topsy turvy position - crowds aside it is other revenue streams which are needed because at the moment it clearly aint working

Let's hope we stay up and the CSH can help the club afford the playing staff to be competitive

Sorry - very 'down' after this weekend

I think the current set up is much better than last time we were in this league and seemed to spend most of every match playing head tennis in the middle of the pitch. As you say last year we were OK and this year we've been mullered by injuries and Griffith.

You've really not seen much of us this year have you? I've had neck ache with the hoof ball at times.

WOW. Now that is something to look at and build on. Why have we got the extra fans when as a team we are struggling? The Aldershot game was the same. Let's look on what we can do to fuel this.

It is interesting that even allowing for a couple of derbies 'home supporters' seem to be edging up whilst results haven't been great. Has the club got any plans to carry a bit of market research to see if we've many new faces, particularly on the back of the Community Hall and juniors / ladies teams?

Don't think Worcester will be at Kiddy next season - last I read they weren't going to renew the deal, probably for economic reasons. Looks like they'll be playing at Bromsgrove.
