Probably the oldest looking Alty player I have seen (or was it because I was so young?)
Good player, not much pace but read the game well.

I remember that when I first caught sight of Lenny Dickenson's wizened looks for a moment I wondered why on earth Alty had signed Syd James.

He was an excellent player though even though his best days were with Mossley.

The amazing thing about Len Dickenson is that he was our leading scorer in the 1962-63 season and his last goal for the club was in the 1-0 win over Matlock in 1976-77 season.  He spent 10 years away from Moss Lane and still became a club legend
