Knowing the way our luck has gone of late, this is probably how events will unfold over the next few weeks:

Tuesday, 5th January 2010:
Alty v York City (BSP)

Match postponed (again) due to a frozen pitch.

Saturday, 9th January 2010:
AFC Wimbledon v Alty (FA Trophy Second Round)

Match postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Therefore, it is rescheduled to Tuesday, 12th January 2010, thereby forcing the postponement of our rearranged BSP game at Moss Lane against Kettering Town.

Saturday, 16th January 2010:
Ebbsfleet United v Alty (BSP)

Probably called off, so that we end up having to travel down to Kent on a Tuesday in April instead.

Tuesday, 19th January 2010:
Mansfield Town v Alty (BSP)

The home club use retrospective video evidence in a bid to have six of our players charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

Saturday, 23rd January 2010:
Alty v Hayes & Yeading (BSP)

At long last, a home game goes ahead...!

Saturday, 30th January 2010
Alty v Stevenage Borough (BSP)

Match postponed, as Stevenage Borough have progressed to the FA Trophy Third Round (they have Vauxhall Motors at home in the Second Round).

Alternatively, Alty have beaten AFC Wimbledon in the FA Trophy Second Round and are still in the competition themselves (and will almost certainly have been drawn away to Oxford United...).

As you may have gathered, my glass is half empty.

there is a serious message here.  this is the scenario any financial calculations should be based on.  we have been so well run over the past few years I have no doubt that is the line that is being taken.

Or the the players dont get paid or we have to borrow money or go into the AGM Cup.

Unsurprisingly, stage one is complete, as the rescheduled York City fixture has been postponed.

Alas, early weather forecasts for next weekend suggest that the FA Trophy tie against AFC Wimbledon could also suffer a deferral.

what would happen if it just never got hotter, and our climate has just found a new natural level?

no more football at moss lane ever.

ice hockey?
I decided that the Tracey's should have a sporting Christmas so I booked for the Manchester Pheonix (Ice Hockey) game against Sheffield Scimitars just before Christmas.

So the merry gang set off on the short walk from Timperley to Altrincham Ice Rink... only to be met with "The game has been postponed due to the weather!", obviously I retorted "are you taking the p*ss this is Ice Hockey!" The actual reason was that Sheffield were unable to get across the pennines.... this was of course followed by the Boxing Day postponement at Wrexham (coaches booked and tickets in hand!)... the rest is now history.

Foolishly I have booked the Train from AT and me to travel down for the Wimbledon game (no refund fixed train tickets) and as such I am desperate for the game to be on!  ;D

All of the fixtures will be replayed, and maybe some of the Jan ones would attract more crowds in March/April due to nicer weather, so I think the AGM Cup is going a bit too far.
