How many can Vics have taken to Droylsden............must have been in a mini-bus

Altrincham FC First Team / Missing person alert (Crawley game) !
« on: March 03, 2008, 09:29:44 PM »
I bring you the sad news that Crawley will have one spare place on the team coach for the next few months.

I believe that one of the dodgy dealing owners is now spending his first night at one of Her Majestys less desirable residences (much different from a £3M Brighton penthouse).

Altrincham FC First Team / No shorts please
« on: February 29, 2008, 01:49:41 AM »
Apparantly the main board director / club owner (might be wrong on that one) at Bury FC has resigned over the wearing of shorts.
Apparantly this fella is one of those blokes that insists on wearing shorts all year round (a bit like wee Jimmy Krankie). Because of this he has been turned away from a few various 'away' boardrooms in the past and the situation has become such a talking point at the club, that he feels the need to resign.

A case of short sightedness no doubt

Altrincham FC First Team / I feel the earth move !
« on: February 27, 2008, 04:22:11 AM »
Better than the usual fireworks !

An earthquake was experienced early this morning in Altrincham.......Obviously this was organised to recognise the recent heroics of the team, staff and brilliant travelling fans.

Seriously it scared me a little. I had been to the Orange Tree and Market to 'reflect' upon the good result and fell asleep in the armchair on my return. I was awoken at 1am when I felt the whole room shaking. I was then really not sure what had just happened; had I had dreamt this effect or was it for real.......?

Just woke up again and checked the BBC who said there had been a quake with the epicentre in Lincolnshire.

Maybe Torquay can call their next game off as a result of a shaken pitch ! Justice was done tonight.

Altrincham FC First Team / Setanta : Droylsden v Farsley
« on: February 04, 2008, 10:39:14 PM »
With this game on tomorrow night, I guess that one of the Grahams' will be absent from Moss Lane for our CSC SF game ?

Considering the importance of our upcoming games, maybe they should both go and leave Tinno and Val in charge for the home game !

Altrincham FC First Team / Neil Brown - Abbey Hey
« on: January 27, 2008, 07:35:05 PM »
Almost an 'Alty' topic, but not quite :-

There is a good interview with Neil Brown on the North West Counties League Website. For those that don't know, Neil is the Altrincham FC groundsman and former Reserve Team manager.

He has taken over bottom placed Abbey Hey and is trying to turn it around. For those that have watched the reserves before, there would be no problem in recognising almost all of the Abbey side.

Abbey Hey won on Saturday with goals from former Altrincham reserve players, Mulholland and Heffernan.

Anyone registered with the 606 forum and fancy replying ?

Basically first post says teams with low crowds and rich chairmen should not be in the Conference. Refers to FGR, Droylsden and Grays. Of course we all know that teams with enough points usually stay up and crowd size is irrelevant.

Second post says Conference needs to be full of big teams and not teams like Altrincham who keep staying up by default and are crap. Maybe they should be reminded why Altrincham keep staying up by default.........ermm it's because other clubs are unprofessional and cannot manage their own finances

Altrincham FC First Team / Attendances today
« on: November 25, 2007, 05:22:41 AM »
Crawley - 800 ish
Droylsden - about 450
Vics - about 600
Democratic Republic of Ebbsfleet - 850 ish

Not good in relation to the estimated financial outlay of these teams

Altrincham FC First Team / Millwall supporters
« on: November 11, 2007, 01:04:41 AM »
Considering all the negative reports I thought the behaviour of the Millwall fans should be mentioned..........no problems with the 300 ish that turned up today. Stood out in the wind and light drizzle and supported their team (although a little quiet.......but I can see why !).

Also; they stayed in position behind their goal and to their great credit in my opinion, totally ignored the 20 or so 'imposter' Altrincham supporters who from kick-off moved over into the corner to sing derogatory anti-Millwall songs.

These d**kheads did not even know a single Alty players' surname until 20 mins into the match (they were City fans). The Millwall supporters could have moved into the corner and given our stewards a hard time, but they could see these idiots were not genuine AFC and chose to blank them.

Altrincham FC First Team / Robins success on Saturday
« on: October 29, 2007, 09:03:42 PM »
The (other) Robins, that is Southern League Midland Division team, Evesham drew at Home to Halifax on Saturday.
Truly a success when you consider that they are the equivalent of a Unibond One team eg 3 divisions below their BSP opponents.

What's this got to do with us.................well nothing really, but makes a change from talking about Millwall supporters.

But it also puts our FA Cup performance into perspective, in that another BSP team struggled to get a result against lower league opposition (except of course that Halifax did not win either). The cup does this.

Altrincham FC First Team / Northwich - any evidence ?
« on: October 08, 2007, 02:59:45 PM »
Everything I read and hear seems to indicate that Northwich are well and truly in the brown stuff e.g the winding up order from the civil servants, the high court order to pay Hodkinson's, the low attendances and poor points tally etc.
However why is everyone so certain that they will soon cease to exist........whereas things look very bleak, where is the hard evidence.

Maybe there will be a buyer, maybe they will go down the admin route or maybe they don't actually owe as much as people think and MC will clear the debt..........who knows ?

Am I missing something or is this all speculation at the moment ?

Altrincham FC First Team / Get behind the team - we have not been relegated
« on: September 20, 2007, 01:20:32 PM »
Lots of stuff on here over the last few weeks - I am going to give it a miss for a fortnight before I lose my job, but before I do I thought I would make a post.

Last season we were relegated - nobody called for GH to be sacked
The season before last we were relegated - nobody called for GH to be sacked
This season we have not been relegated - lots of people want GH to be sacked.

My point is that nobody ever got relegated before Christmas.............so give the management a chance.....we have had tough games and despite seemingly bizare tactics, none of us have managed at this level before, so none of us can be completely sure of the reasoning behind the decisions. Let GH & DS engineer a great escape. What makes people so sure that a change will be a positive one ?
If we are relegated then review the situation again in May, but now let's all get behind the team.
For those that think we are relegated now, then 5th from bottom will be a huge bonus.

On the Conf N v Conf issue.......I would prefer to see us struggle against the FT teams and finish 19th, 2000 on boxing day etc, than play away at Alfreton and win.

Regards Geoff..........well he is one of those people who will always react like he does, its called frustration and speaking out and saying the wrong things. Who has not done that. Maybe Ecky should be spokesman (on seeing his silky slik PR skills on an earlier post ! If Geoff has offended, then be a little more thick skinned and remember that he is one member of a 7 person board who have done tremendous things for this club.

It could be worse..........we could have Connett and Warhurst

Forget it and don't be insulted Easter

Altrincham FC First Team / Jim Smith
« on: September 09, 2007, 11:49:15 PM »
Football management must be a 'funny old game'...........whilst Jim was getting his 'boys' fish and chips from Barneys after the match, we were watching England on the (impressive) new telly.
England; as everyone knows are ably managed by Steve McClaren, who was Jim's assistant only a few years ago !

PS I am not having a go at Jim Smith, he may be 67 and probably past it, but he started off in non-league and has 'done the business' at several clubs. He worked his way up through the lower league clubs and did not get a job on the back of being a high profile player.

Sorry, nowt to do with Alty, but a change from the recent posts etc
