Altrincham FC First Team / Message for the club stewards

Nobody could foresee what was going to happen today.........you are blameless in all this.  Keep up the good work.

Altrincham FC First Team / Senior joins AFC Halifax (sort of)
« on: July 15, 2008, 01:38:13 PM »
Don't panic...........this is not our 5 goal hero !

Could not help but take a little look at the Halifax Courier today to see how things are going for them. The paper says that Phil Senior, who it claims (incorrectly) is Chris Senior's brother, has joined Halifax from Northwich Vics.

In fact it's interesting to see that AFC HT seem to be making plenty of signings. The majority of their new players are all from higher placed clubs, so I suspect they will be collecting better than average Unibond 1 wages. Surprising for a new club with no money !

“When a club goes into administration it sheds its debts and it gets a competitive advantage over other clubs. They clear their debts while other clubs have to pay their bills. We have to send a message out to all clubs that they have to be run in a prudent and sensible way.”

As reported by the Messenger...........A local man (property developer) has bid £40M for Blackburn.

Now maybe the last thing Alty need is a property tycoon coming in and putting 'affordable' government housing on the pristine pitch at Moss Lane, but maybe there are few fans out there who went to school with this man and could persuade him to donate £0.5M for a place on the team photo or an overnight trip to Weymouth etc.
Just joking................but on a serious note, it might be worth asking if he would like his companies name around the ground etc for the upcoming FA Cup game against Leeds Utd.

Altrincham FC First Team / New Manager at Southport
« on: June 30, 2008, 04:40:40 PM »
From the BBC............it's Liam Watson again.

He left the job last time when they went full-time because of his work committments. Now he is re-joining, but appears to be staying part-time. I assume that the players will train themselves when he is at work (unless he intends to take a few mornings off and make up the time later) ?

Still, probably a good appointment for them.

Altrincham FC First Team / Brabin gets Cambridge job
« on: June 23, 2008, 05:40:57 PM »
Interesting appointment at Cambridge United : Southport's Gary Brabin gets the job.

A very surprising appointment, but a gamble that may pay off...........would do people think?

Altrincham FC First Team / Alfreton have
« on: June 11, 2008, 11:11:21 PM »
Signed..............Leo Fred-West. Amazing !

Their Chairman is obviously still very much 'behind' their manager Nicky Law, despite him 'going missing' and turning up one Saturday afternoon last season on another clubs team bench.
If you recall he 'forgot' he had signed an employment contract with Alfreton. In terms of 'dodgyness', this guy puts Steve Evans in the shade.

Altrincham FC First Team / Halifax FC Vs AFC Halifax Shaymen
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:59:02 PM »
The local Fax paper has various reports that both the 'Consortium' and the 'Supporters' are trying to form a new club.
The existing consortium and management are talking to the FA to transfer the existing company to another company (think Vics did this?) so that they can play as high as possible up the leagues. Additionally the Supporters Trust are doing something similar in order to set up a new club (like FCUM maybe?).
The FA though will only allow entry to the pyramid system for one club and unfortunately the articles appear to imply that both teams are working in isolation of each other.
Therefore there is some interesting developments ahead. Not sure which one I would prefer if I were a Shayman.......consortium probably have greater 'clout' right now, but supporters club may be best in the long term.
Anyway best of luck to both parties and I hope they can come together and get up and running next season.

Altrincham FC First Team / When can the season start !
« on: May 07, 2008, 03:40:54 AM »
Can the new season start on Saturday please............with us in BSP of course......we really need some footy to discuss. There is far too much to read on this forum at the moment e.g Halifax, FCUM, GH, the Board etc etc.

There are a lot of negative 'posts' at the moment which is understandable after a relegation. The Board seem to be getting a lot of stick at the moment, which is a little unfair in my view. Yes, they might have got some things wrong, but then again they might have got things right. Only time will tell. However one thing we can take as certain, is that they will have acted in a manner they believe is right for this club.

NB There is a fans' forum coming up next week, which is something you don't get at Manchester United (or Northwich).........this is a real opportunity to air your views and get matters off your chest in front of the people who actually make the decisions. Let's hope it is well attended.

On the FCUM thing, how many of the 'posters' today know what the deal is with FCUM for their cup games to be hosted at Moss Lane ?
Is there a clause if they play us ? Do we get £10k per game or £2k per game ? Do FC provide stewards and idemnify the club against damage ? Who knows the deal ?
Until somebody does, then we should reserve judgement. To some posters on this forum the FCUM games at Moss Lane will result in us 'folding' midway thro' next season as all our fans under 30 yrs go and watch FCUM instead of us, however to others, it means a cash injection that will see us having the money in the bank to pay for Jodie Banim & Danny Adams next season. Who knows !

Altrincham FC First Team / Easter coaching
« on: April 09, 2008, 01:38:34 AM »
Someone I know has told me their son really enjoyed his week at the club. The boy was so impressed with the coaching and Colin Little in particular, that he wants to come and see a game.
They usually go and watch City, but will be at Moss Lane on Saturday.

Amongst all the bad news......the club is doing something right here

Halifax recall Stamp from Vics !
Obviously it was a mistake to lend him to your relegation rivals, so now they want him back…… but then again maybe they would not have been rivals if they had never lent him to them in the first place

Farsley's planning permission to sell off their land for houses was declined by Leeds City Council..........oh dear, I wouldn't mind betting that part of this money has already been spent this season.

And the best one of the lot : Crawley boss, Evans finally admits the coach company had not been paid, but has said that he genuinely thought that there was a mechanical breakdown of the coach.
If I were the manager, then I think maybe I would have asked the driver what the problem was and if another coach could be sent in a hurry. Sending your team North in their own vehicles without finding out what the problem is seems rather strange to me...........unless of course Mr Evans is telling lies again.

Altrincham FC First Team / David Pace.......the voice of reason
« on: March 23, 2008, 01:10:28 PM »
Mr Pace is either on new tablets or he has been learning from AFC.

See the Official Altrincham website........more sensible words from the mouth of the Droylsden supremo.

Neil Brown - Please take note
If somebody is needed to give the pitch a 'real close' inspection i.e between the blades of grass and into the roots, then Yemi Odubade is your man.

He has been transfer listed by Oxford and could undertake his inspections at the same time as playing for us. Those that were at the Brittania in May 05 and have also seen him play against us, will know what I mean

Altrincham FC First Team / Attendances last night
« on: March 12, 2008, 02:26:39 PM »
Another bad one for most clubs (poor weather not helping)

Weymouth 951
Halifax 894
Ebbsfleet 546
Grays 496

All full time clubs. They have good backers or they must sell a lot of pies, chips and beer!
