Title: DMH Gone back to Bradford
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on February 25, 2016, 11:09:15 PM
As per main site, and we're hoping to keep Holness. Seeing as the two loanees have gone even though we were supposed to have DMH for another month let's hope there's room for a midfielder to come in.

Can we sign players on loan outside the window or does it have to be an emergency loan ?

I think the (emergency) loan window is open until the last week in March for sides below the prem.

Although I think this is set to stop for all next season making loans outside the window impossible, might make for difficult times for teams with small squads

But the small squad debate that we have had on here throughout the season needs to be re-evaluated in the light of the fact that we are running at a loss.  we could not afford to be running with a bigger squad, unless the average quality per player was reduced.

It's a case of making the most of what we've got. Sometimes the team ought to do better but the Chester game was the only one this season where I thought a refund was in order.

Usually it is entertaining and value for money.

Indeed Figgy - more investment.

I am currently working on this...

Thing is we won't find and don't want an 'investor' we want a donor.  An investor is someone who puts an amount of money in to something with the intention of taking more money out in due course.  That is never going to be an option at Alty.

Ideally want a fan to win the lottery and give the club a substantial amount in cash without wanting anything in return

f**king hell! Lottery winners would be a nightmare. We need to stay up this season and let the CSH break even and then start making us money for the playing budget next season and beyond.

In the meantime is question why we couldn't find loans til the end of the season????

At the same time as long as we don't get relegated I think we've done a good job considering the changing financial environment we are operating in.

I would think if a big Alty fan who goes home and away wins the lottery and puts money in that wouldn't be a nightmare

Possibly one reason why we 'couldn't find loans till the end of the season' is that the 'changing financial environment we are operating in' may mean we can only finance loans on a reviewable month-to-month basis? Incidentally I don't think the financial environment has changed much in the last 18 months - it's just that people are (hopefully) more aware of the limited financial perameters within which the club works compared to the majority of outfits in this league. The chances of a lottery winner wanting to put money in without strings are in my view pie in the sky, by the way.
In passing - just what is the definition of an 'emergency loan', I wonder?

Chances of  winning the lottery  millions to one, more chance  of Aty winning FA cup .Any Alty fan who already has big money he would want to hand over would have done so by now ,even if Duncan moves on for a big sell on fee it probably wouldnt be enough to do have a title pushing side and make big ground improvements.Take over would be too much of a gamble ?

You notice they recalled him, and then immediately loaned him to BPA.

That's the "not enough game time" effect

Putting some figures into context, our turnover last season was about £600k. Chester's was about £1.2m, Grimsby's was about £1.9m.
