Any speculation as to who the 'couple of trialists' mentioned on the main site might be?

A reliable source informs me that a few Wrexham players are playing for us tonight!

Team for tonight:

GK Ralph
RB Battersby
CB Doughty
CB James Smith
LB Tierney
RW Meechan
CM Street
CM Densmore
LW Simon Garner
CF O'Neill
CF Elam

Wrexham apparently have a strong team out.

A bit more info on James Smith.

My source at tonight's game says he looks quite good.

Apparently the game is going to last 60 minutes and there's no half time due to half the floodlights not working.

Simon Garner played for Stalybridge last season and recently left Fleetwood having played 3 games for them so far this season.

Apparently he played very well for Stockport last year and only left because he wanted more money, looks as though he's had to lower his demands!

Good job it wasn't a competitive game then as it would have had to have been abandoned surely.

Yeah, I suppose so.

Just to clarify this, we're having a look at four of their players but they are actually playing against us tonight.

Straight from Fleetwood site:

FLEETWOOD, Lancs, September 9, 2008

Simon Garner has been released from his contract with Fleetwood Town by mutual consent. Garner was signed by Fleetwood during the close season and previously played for Clithereo and Stalybridge Celtic. The defender played in the 2007/08 Blue Square North play-off final when Stalybridge were denied promotion after a 1–0 defeat by Barrow. Fleetwood have played seven games so far this season and Garner made 3 appearances.

Fleetwood Town FC chairman, Andy Pilley said, “Simon is a good player and a decent lad. Unfortunately, this one hasn’t worked out and we have mutually agreed to cancel the contract. His pedigree will enable him to pursue his career elsewhere. The club wishes Simon all the best for the future.”

Full time 1-0

I'm told it was a good workout and the trialists did well. Also, Elam looked sharp so hopefully we'll be seeing more of him in the next few games!

All in all a very worthwhile exercise by the sound of things.

No idea but I wouldn't have thought it was very big.

I would estimate that the crowd was about 80.
