Altrincham FC First Team / A bit of perspective ...
« on: September 21, 2007, 11:38:38 AM »
I feel crap at the moment with the way things are going on the field ... and here on the forum too.
That's not to say we've all got a right to speak our mind, I just wish the minority of critics would join the rest of those on here with constructive remarks (critical or otherwise).
If we don't, it will begin to resemble PortChat!

Whenever I feel as bad as this, I think back to some of the REAL lows I've had as an Alty fan ...

Playing a friendly at home against Morecambe of the Lancashire Combination before the kick off of the NPL, feeling Alty were great before the game and watching us  get banjoed 4-0

Trying to get my (then) girlfriend interested and spending every penny I had training it to Garston (to see us play South Liverpool) via Warrington (it seemed to take ages) on the crap trains of the day only to watch us get annihilated 6-0

Getting beaten by Phwelli (or however it's spelt) and even General Chemicals

Compared to that being in the BSP is great.

There's a hell of a long way to go this season and a couple of wins - or even a win and a couple of draws - in the next few games will make a heck of a difference.

I know you all feel crap just like I do myself but try to stay positive and keep the faith.

Altrincham FC First Team / Today
« on: August 25, 2007, 09:24:34 PM »
Just a few thoughts;

I hate reading posts like some put on this evening. We're all hurting at another defeat but it's not constructive or helpful to call the team spineless etc., Usually when we've been beaten - especially after a performance like today where the weakest Grays team I've seen were there for the taking - I don't post my comments till the day after giving me time to calm down and take stock.

Having said that, here are my feelings - as cooly as I can make them.

1. Joe O'Neill is only going to prosper playing off a big Centre Forward who's good in the air. We haven't got one and can't afford one so where does that leave Joe? given we can only play one player in that role and it would be Little's best slot too..
2. Lane played fantastic all day and is the best signing we've made for quite a while.
3. Scotty was clearly not match-fit and azza was not up to it. We can't afford a specialist left back so Warren must play there.
4. As others have said, Robbie is a fish out of water on the right. Bring him inside or drop him.
5. What a good clubman Acton is to come in like that and play a blinder.
6. The refereeing standards in this league seem to be getting worse by the week. That guy was shocking.
7. Let's just all get down to Marston Road and cheer the lads home cos if we don't get something out of that game, we're giving ourseves a mountain to climb.

Come on you Robins!

Altrincham FC First Team / Who will the "New Signings" be?
« on: June 14, 2007, 03:24:51 PM »
Given that we've got Tinson, and freed a bit of money up for, according to the Messenger, five new signings, who do you lot on here think they are likely to be (and who do you HOPE they could be?)

Personally, I think we could see one or two players changing green shirts for red in the near future.

What does everyone think?

What happened to this?
Has it just not been updated or has it finished?
(perhaps I've missed an earlier thread on this?)

Altrincham FC First Team / Next Seasons Fixtures ...
« on: June 13, 2007, 08:01:30 PM »
I notice on Confguide that someone has said the fixtures for next season will not be coming out at the same time as the Premiership and the Football League but onl 28th June.
Am I reading to much into this ... would this take us beyond the CVA expiry date for Crawley?  ::)

Altrincham FC First Team / Fallout from Tamworth ...
« on: April 23, 2007, 04:48:57 PM »
I've not felt like coming on here since weekend but having come on today and having read through the posts, I'd like to add my thoughts for what they're worth.

1.  I was gutted on Saturday but if we'd got a draw with the same performance (and we could have done) a lot of people's views might have been more positive.

2.  Whilst this is an open forum and all views are welcome, talking about the retained list five days before the make-or-break match of our season seems inappropriate to say the least.

3.  There's been quite a bit more negativity on here from a few people over the last day or two - and that's ok if that's how you feel - but if you really have the best interests of the club at heart, couldn't you manage to keep it together and bite your tongue until after the Aldershot game? The team and the club need our support (not just on Saturday but in the run-up to it too) more than ever before. Let's not let them down and let's show them we're behind them all the way come what may.

4.  The fat lady's not even clearing her throat yet - there's lots of reasons to be positive and expect a good outcome to the season so let's all make sure we play our part in a constructive way.

Come on you Super Robins!

It's a must-win next week at Tamworth.

EVERYBODY'S presence is requested.

Altrincham FC First Team / Scarborough on the way out!
« on: April 07, 2007, 12:22:17 PM »
Check it out on their website.
As far as I can make out, they're being wound up in 14 days unless someone comes up with 2 million. (Highly unlikely!)

What a sad end, if true.

Not seen any mention of this on here - I'm sure everyone is voting for the lad?

Altrincham FC First Team / Crowd for Tuesday ...
« on: March 18, 2007, 04:39:02 PM »
After the big turn-out on Saturday, a great response and a show of support for the lads would be a four-figure crowd against Grays.
Let's see if we can make it so that we can roar the lads home in this absolutely vital game for us all.

Come on the Robins!

Altrincham FC First Team / What's happening at Halifax? ...
« on: March 16, 2007, 02:25:15 PM »
Just been reading about their Chairman resigning. What's going on over there?
I certainly hope they're not in serious trouble - we need all the northern clubs we can get in this league.

(Apart from anything else, where are we going to get any more players from  ::) ::) :D )

Any one know anything?
