Title: Derby Off
Post by: Jimmy Hill on January 16, 2007, 03:43:45 PM
It seems that Northwich's game tonight has been postponed according to the Eastbourne forum (http://eborosupporter.proboards54.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1168957288). It has been rearranged for next Tuesday.

This is confirmed on the Vics official site.

"Eastbourne Match Cancelled

Please note that due to pitch conditions, todays match v EASTBOURNE has been cancelled.

The tie will now take place on Tuesday the 23rd of Jan. This means that the league fixture v Altrincham will now be played at a later date yet to be arranged."

I'd just managed to persuade some poor soul to cover me at a Co-op Fair Trade wine drinking session next Tuesday night to enable me to make my first trip to the completed VS on a very rare Tuesday night that I am in the North West

Blast!  I'll have to drink paintstripper now

what are the chances of getting a Saturday fixture?

So you've diverted the English Channel onto Eastbourne's pitch then?

You really, really wouldn't like the Co-op Chilean Shiraz - it takes a whole layer out of your throat which can only be replaced by a nice pint of Stella Artois (particularly as the Britons Protection is so close to the wine tasting venue)

if your byt the Britons Protection and your talking about the one in manc there has to be a better choice than Stella, i.e aint it a j.w lees pub with like 20 guest ales??

Incorrect, Jimmy.
We are not playing anybody on Saturday, 3rd March 2007......!

Our home game with Grays Athletic on Saturday, 24th February 2007 be in jeopardy if they continue to progress in the FA Trophy, especially as you'd fancy them to beat Yeading at home in the 3rd Round.

Looking further ahead, Oxford United at Moss Lane on Saturday, 17th March 2007 would be postponed if Oxford were to reach the FA Trophy semi-final.

True, although that is only because we are away to Burton on the 2nd.

Therefore, in practice it's not really free.

I was being pedantic.....not serious!

I hope that Oxford don't progress to the Trophy semi-finals, as we could really do with a healthy travelling support invading Moss Lane on 17th March.

Also noticed a thread on the Eastbourne forum that Northwich travelled down yesterday afternoon.Wonder how all the players managed to get the time off work  ??? ??? ::) They must have great part time jobs to be allowed to do that!!!

Other than that,I am absolutely gutted about it being off.Thankfully I have 1/2 day left to use for me holidays,so I shall use it for the rearranged game.

Okey doke.

I thought you may have just scanned the fixture list and noticed a free Saturday without realising that we did in fact play of the Friday.

Do we have to re-book the away travel for the Northwich game?  Forgive my ignorance but it'll be the first time travelling to an away game with Alty.

Well done to those people still walking to Northwich but I do think it's a bit daft having to do it without the reward of a game at the end

Anyone know why our game at Burton has been moved to the Friday? No international football that weekend. We're not going to be on the telly, are we?

I think it was something to do with the stewards, I think Burton use the same stewards as someone else who are at home on the Saturday.  ???

Looks like winter will arrive next week so expect further postponements  :(

Indeed that is the case,

Burton Albion use Derby County Stewards, hence the possible proliferation of Friday and Sunday fixtures in the Burton Albion Calendar
