Well i think we've turned a corner here, i cant believe lee elam didnt have clubs more high profile than ours scratching for him,

we are not going to be bullied anymore and surely this means we have a genuine appeal to players now ;D ;D

It's because his name reads Male Eel in the mirror.
Very off putting.

I don't mean this in a bad way at all but I'd guess he tried for big money at York, they said no.

He then did that thing that footballers don't tend to do much and thought.

"Hang on..I can do me football coaching in the day, get a half decent wage from alty for Tues and Thurs nights, still play in the Conference and build a bit of a career for when I finish"

Thats not based on any fact or rumour, just what I bet had happened.

Maybe for once the part time thing has worked in our favour...a turning of the tide?

I would love to believe that's true but sadly, I think it's only the case with respect to physiotherapists and thirtysomethings.

But Elam is a thirty something!

Also didn't it work in our favour with Denham?  Who was also wanted by Rushden.

I think in Denham's case it was as much to do with location as anything else. However, part time football undoubtedly represents a better option for players who either have good careers outside football or are looking to forge post-football careers.

No it's "Sawgull"

But have a Goodwin anyway - When I first moved down here I thought it was pronounced Sow-all

And we will be paying good money for genuine part time football.

taking this into account, plus what ecky said. Do we think that the current economic climate will work in alty's favour. Will the fringe full-time players look to go part-time and get another job to boost the coffers as the purse strings tighten around them.

We may see millionaires decide that money cant be thrown around as easily these days and choose not to waste it on their hobby football team. Full-time footballers earn less and part-time is a good prospect.

I suppose a flip side is we may see more teams reverting to part-time, this too could be good for us.
