ALTRINCHAM vs. OXFORD UNITED (SETANTA INTERFERENCE)
« on: July 23, 2008, 03:37:05 PM »

"The home BSP match against Oxford United has been moved back 24 hours to 3pm on Sunday, 12th October. This is because Oxford have a live Setanta TV game the preceding Thursday night"

Setanta, good or bad for non-league  ???  It seems the issue of TV companies having a bigger sway in football than the people involved in the game itself has now descended upon non-league and the BSP.  I'm up for non-league being brought to the masses but not at the expense of the traditional 3pm Saturday KO!!!

Not necessarily a bad thing.

England play on the Saturday and may have distracted the 'occasional' visitor. Some people who work Saturdays and can't normally make a game, may be tempted. Especially if we have a reasonable start to the season.

If true that will decimate the travelling support.

Didn't realise England were playing, the game could well have been moved anyway plus the loss of support due to people watching England even if say a 1pm KO. So, not a bad thing I suppose.

True but its Alty games we want to see.  If an Altrincham game had been screened on the Thursday, the cross may be easier to bear  :)

I didn't realise either.  I'm more of a club football man though and haven't been impressed with England of late!!!

Four wins, perhaps?

As much for the pain they can be in getting games re-arranged and KO's changed, I don't really see how promoting your local side on a national scale can really be a disadvantage to anyone

I suppose the money is good for the club.  £8,000 isn't it?
