Presume there is no way he'll be signing for Alty now.  It's a bit of a shame because I thought he was the best of the trialists, he was quick, had a good finish on him and closed the opposition down quickly.

Having said that Gareth Whalley is an exciting signing

chris looked very much like a good player but it was decided i think that he was too similar to sedgemore...with the signing of whalley and potts aswell...i think heathcote may have decided we were already equipped in the midfield area and chris wasnt needed

chris could only defend zonally and as we play a man marking system it would have took too much time to train him up so the expecnse would have been too much

I heard this too. He kept "passing his man off" and not tracking back. I think we may have taken him on had Whalley not signed, but we'll never know.

not strange rally ballers may be able to elaborate on this but the two types of marking are very different. as he had only ever marked in his 'zone' he would keep dropping his man. the time taken giving one on one coaching how to man mark would have tied up dalton or GH when they could have been taking a training session with the whole team

Kind of. I spent this afternoon scouring a coaching manual to describe that performance last night. There wasn't anything.  :D
