From the BBC website:

"Gravesend and Northfleet have changed their name to Ebbsfleet United.
Club chairman Jason Botley says they have made the change to try to tap into the regeneration of the area - and fans groups have backed the decision.

Botley told BBC Radio Kent: "It is with a view to looking at the area and the development of the club longer term.

"With the influx of new housing and business and the development of the Ebbsfleet area this is the catalyst for us to move forward and upwards."

Surely a joke!

We should change our name to AltynearDidsbury FC. It seems to be the most deisrable place on earth and obviously we would attract all manner of new young professional fans to Moss (near didsbury) Lane!

Im sure 'fans groups'!???!! would be right behind it.
