The pitch didn't help
« on: September 29, 2013, 11:03:26 AM »

I got there very late. The score was already 1 - 1.

The thing that struck me pretty quickly was that the pitch was very bobbly. It just didn't suit our normal passing game and we didn't have any other plan. We didn't play with enough width.
We need to get back to normal quickly on Saturday. If they start like they played yesterday the season will turn to dust very quickly.

At least I didn't waste as much money as United fans yesterday.

That's clutching at straws tbh. The only reason we didn't win yesterday was because we weren't good enough, simple as that.

Did you go to Leek last season , now and that pitch was like a farmers field , don't blame yesterday on that , we were rubbish no other reason

The wind was maybe blowing in the wrong direction?

I thought the pitch looked pristeen......even the grass banks looked better than my garden!!!!...maybe the grass a bit long and we seemed sluggish but it didn't stop Trafford playing....

I doubt anyone will offer any excuses for yesterday simply because there aren't any.

The manager stuck with the side that won on Tuesday, that was a gamble as it meant leaving our best striker out and that was wrong.

We played terribly and created nothing and didn't deal with the stuff they created.  They played pretty well and the smattering of good players they have turned up and the rest did their jobs.

Cup upsets happen, we're not the first or only club to lose to a lower league side.

However the bit that hurt me is that it wasn't unlucky, or the Alamo and we couldn't score.  It was just plain crap to never make their keeper make one real save.

The players and management will be in no doubt of how much it hurts to go out in that manner and they now have to work to put it right.

Same pitch for both teams.  Unless it's a chronically bad surface I don't like blaming the surface.

Still gutted about yesterday.

It's a bad workman who blames his tools. The pitch was all right.

Traffords pitch is always good. Especially for the level that they've come from.

There was no problem with that pitch.  Possibly a little bit dry as you could see when the ball bounced but most pitches do that anyway.  No conference side would argue about playing on that surface.

Nothing wrong with the pitch. Was pleasantly surprised what a tidy set up it was.

pitch is never a valid excuse as its same pitch both teams play on. On pitches Ive heard been said when our home pitch is bob on it helps other teams - surely it helps or hinders both its how you handle the conditions
