York Citys week seems to going very well.  First they win the FA Trophy, and now this news...

http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/9710223.LIVE__D_Day_for_stadium_and_shops_plan/

The club were in favour, but they don't have 100% of the fans support by any means.

Will they get a hat trick and get promoted?

I'd love for us to get new facilities at moss lane or even move to a new ground that makes money, however I can't help thinking the York fans have been short changed, bootham crescent oozes character, and holds over 9,000,  the new ground is a 6,000 capacity all seater 3 sided Lego set....

Why do they need a new ground? I love Bootham Crescent.

That's right Socrates.  Little in the way of parking, away fans on the trains can walk up to Bootham Crescent at the moment, they'll now be getting erm...the Park and Ride outbound.  Once there they can savour all the excitement and atmosphere of a retail park.   Don't ask me what the proposals are to cater for 1500 or so away fans hitting town a week or so before christmas.

The club were in favour cos they have very little time left on Bootham Crescent legally without some form of financial wallop, they have some very strong arguments relating to community involvement, the fact they are they ONLY professional club in North Yorkshire (if we put asdide the Middlesborough debate) and being able to display the FA Trophy can only have helped.

Hope they can show the play-off cup as well...

The proposed new ground reminds me of Chester's ground

It at least looks better than Lego World down in Gloucestershire.

The only new ground that was better than the old ground was Darlington and look what happened to them.

It depends on how you define "better". Feethams had a lot of character and would have been perfectly adequate for their needs. Leaving their true home was a terrrible move on their part.
