Witton getting beateb 1-0 at home by Buxton in the first leg of the play-off semi with only a few minutes to go!

It is a shame how they seem to throw it away every year.

So, if we don't get a reprieve, it's a trip to Gateshead or Buxton next season.

All I remember of my visits to Silverlands is that, no matter what time of the year it is, Buxton is always bloody cold.

Gateshead please. Gives me two 'local' matches to get to attend.

Was talking about Buxton at work yesterday: was saying I've been there many a time and only once where there has not been rain or snow or sleet. I remember Clive LLoyd playing cricker for Lancs there in June 1976ish and was considering going back to the West Indies as the ground was covered in a layer of snow.

Remember going there for a night match in the early 70's (I think). It was pelting down with sno and we were behind the 'open end' bombarding their goalkeep Ted Burgin (who must have been about 104!) with snowball. He had both his legs bandaged - I thought because of the hard pirch - but he turned to us and, in a phrase I'll remember for ever, said "I don't mind a bit of fun, but mind my knees, lads!"

A classic non-league moment.  :D

I also remember going there on a Saturday afternoon in the 70's - the day United played a home friendly against Glasgow Rangers.
When we left Moss Lane it was a nice Sunny Day and no coats needed.
When we got to Buxton I have never been so cold. It was cold, windy and a snow blizzard - many Alty fans didnt leave the bar it was so cold.
I think we won that match.
