wasn't it all the votes that cost promotion, not just that of one club?

"How true those words are even today", you pedant.

Perhaps I'm too upset not to bite at supercillious comments like yours. I'll feel better when the dpression has subsided a little.

I seem to recall endless newspaper articles in which the then Rochdale manager, Bob Stokoe, pleaded for their re-election.

Didn't he then resign as Rochdale manager just a few days after they were re-elected?

Please could somebody point me in the direction of the last time we played Rochdale in a competative match???

Very bizarre indeed. Glad alty stir up so much emotion.

20th November 1982
FA Cup First Round
Altrincham 2 Rochdale 1

Barry Howard got the winner.
Both teams finished with nine men.

the referee was one Vic Callow (how bizarre i remember that)

No, it was John Davison.

I believe that Roger Kenyon and Gary Anderson were the two Alty players sent off that day.

Yes, definitely John Davison.....and it was at the Chequers End, as I recall.

Barry Howard's winner was at the Golf Road End.

I'm pretty certain that Kenyon and a (very young) Gary Anderson were the Alty players sent off by the erratic Vic Callow.

Calling Father Flynn......!

That's right.

I think the league members were still worried by the 'Workington and Southport factor' and even if we'd have won the cup we'd not have got in (he says, trying to convince himself)

That's all sound and correct. Garry Anderson and Kenyon were the Alty players dismissed by Callow the Clown. John Davison did indeed score the first (a miskick for his first attempt which was blocked, but he made no mistake with the second). Barry Howard scored the second about ten minutes from the end before Rochdale scored a consolation penalty.

Hello.
I am Robert Mugabe. I believe you hold democratic votes in contempt, just like I do.
You are now in a pub team league. Rochdale are in the football league play-offs again.
I find this most amusing.

Why you coming on here sticking the knife in to a club that has no rivalry with you whatsoever?

You sad tw*t.

Probably come on to tell us Rochdale are buying Rod Thornley from us again!!!!!!!

The train to Halifax goes through Rochdale, as I remember there were a lot of mosques.
