Port Vale have released 15 players

Tom Pope being one of them.

Surprised to see Harry McKirdy on Port Vale's list - by all accounts he has bags of ability, but hasn't knuckled down enough. Same appears to be the case for Jack Nolan at Walsall, who also seemed to have potential and is still young.

Coming back on to keepers, Jayson Leutwiler is solid and experienced but unlikely to drop down this far unless he's looking at a career outside of football now (he's 32), was recently playing in League One with Fleetwood.

Warburton was a great player in NLN. We aren't in NLN now.

We need to follow the model that other teams have done for years. ie. sign players with a proven track record in THIS division. it'll cost though, and it'll need full-time football and good training facilities. without all this there's no point in being in this division. otherwise go back to having a fun and entertaining time in the division below.

I dont know, some of the big money players in our division who have dropped out of league 1 and 2 just arent hungry and when i've been to see wrexham i've been suprised at poor quality.  I think it needs a blend and most of all desire.  Some NLN players could do very well, but they need to be on the way up, we've been caught too many times by players on the way down

Agreed, the correct answer is a blend of both.

On that note, Crewe have taken up contract options for both Josh Lundstram and Billy Sass-Davies, as expected... HOWEVER they have released Olly Lancashire, who seems to be taking his coaching badges and is doing a Masters qualification.

If he's looking to step down into part-time football then I think he could be a great signing. He's captained a lot of the clubs he's played for, so he could be good mentor for the likes of Toby too.

Josh Ginnelly and Louis Moult released by Preston.

I know they're not gonna drop from Championship to National League but it does highlight the quality of player becoming available and, as those players find clubs then others will be released to make room.

Josh Ginnelly will go to Hearts, I reckon Louis Moult will end up back at Wrexham.

Moult Moult in midfield sounds good.  Ginnelly was doing a great job in the scottish prem recently so he'll be snapped up

I was thinking similar, plenty of book balancing in the Football League this summer could give us a good opportunity to strengthen.

Port Vale have released 15 players

Tom Pope being one of them.

35 now so too old but ha that made me laugh thinking back about 10 years or maybe 2012. His name came up during the summer and we were all a bit meh at him possibly signing as his goal scoring record was moderate but then he magically banged in 30 goals in league two in the next season.

There'll be a queue for Mani Dieserudwe who has a half decent scoring record in the football league.

I'm.not sure Willoughby has ever done anything above Conference North, but would certainly fit the billing of big target man.
