Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Shaw Lane (A)

I'm thinking of cheering on Shaw Lane. Go back to the Barnsley game, and the following Tuesday was Macc away. Admittedly that's when everyone could see we needed to strengthen in numbers, but it was an After The Lord's Mayor performance. A similar thing to happen to Shaw Lane would do nicely.

166 goals in 278 (+54 sub) appearances. Exactly a goal every 2 games. That stat says enough.

Thank you and good luck at your next club.

The before and after records of our last five managers (excluding caretakers) doesn't make pretty reading:

Lee Sinnott
Previous managerial job: sacked by BPA
Next managerial job: none

Neil Tolson
Previous managerial job: sacked by Hyde
Next managerial job: none

Neil Young
Previous managerial job: sacked by Stockport
Next managerial job: none

Jim Harvey
Previous managerial job: sacked by Halifax
Next managerial job: none

Matt Doughty
Previous managerial job: none
Next managerial job: N/A

That's why I'm quite pleased we've gone for someone like Parkinson. It makes a refreshing change to employ a up-and-coming manager on the back of relative success elsewhere, rather than one on the way down. Hopefully he will, eventually, go on to even better things after doing a good job here too.
Incidentally, when was the last time an Alty manager left us to go on to a 'better' job? I've been watching over 25 years and can't think of one during that period, unless I'm missing someone really obvious.

Anyway, his first target must be to break the curse of the 'first game' as an Alty manager. Again I might be missing someone really obvious, but I don't think an Alty manager has won their first game in charge for nearly 15 years? In fact, Neil Young could hold the record as the only Alty manager, of the seven different managers during that time, who didn't lose their first game in charge?

Ken McKenna?

If you're being lenient Graham Barrow?

Cheers mate, brought back memories of McKennas first game. 45 seconds in away at Eastbourne, walking through their fans and we concede!! Lose 5-0

Thanks  :). When we booked the date back in September 2015, never expected to be out of the country on honeymoon to not see us get relegated to Evo-Stick!!

The sad thing for me is the people who love this club are no longer at games, as they cannot bear to see our plight and what is happening here. One of my fellow supporters, who I have known since I started supporting 20+ years ago, went to Droylsden vs Glossop instead. That for me is a worse fact than those who chose to walk out today. Actions need to be put in place at the top before this decline becomes terminal. It's all well and good saying appreciating the loyal support, but it's extremely difficult to win them back when they go in to the wilderness.

Give up Nasha.  You should be banned for sensible posting.

It is too late though

Indeed it is too late on the pitch, and me saying that when I've always been a 'half full glass' man says a lot. I meant too late before the apathy spreads and people like myself will no longer be there anymore.

Due to other commitments this season, mainly saving up for a wedding, I've only been to 2 away games this season, Harrogate and Stalybridge. Today I couldn't make anyway, but when I saw the final score I just laughed. No anger, no thinking we are in the do do. Just laughing at where our once proud club finds itself.

I've followed the team up and down the country for the last 22 years, and I don't feel or want to go away games. I don't even get excited going to Moss Lane, only looking forward to see friends. The worst thing about this whole situation is that it isn't just the known forum moaners who aren't happy, it's now also long standing, hardcore supporters, who have and still do give any help they can to the club. For me that is the saddest thing, and something that needs to be sorted before it's too late.

I appreciate most of the concern was probably about the repair of what's happened with the team but did anyone ask how much is still owing on the community centre and when at the current rate of income it is likely to be paid off?

I think the hall is a great asset but wonder how long it will be before its actually putting money into the club.

Happy to be corrected but I don't think it's a case of paying off the CSH then all profit goes into the playing side.

Again I understand that is is just the bar taking and food sales that benefit the club. I stand to be corrected but that is what I was told when I asked somebody close to the club

That's fair enough but if the team and the CSH both needed funds then choices would have to be made. I'm surprised that more noise wasn't made about the Hall having been paid for. That's a good news story surely.

As it hasn't been fully paid up. There is a loan for 25k that will be paid 2017/18.

Far more positive than negative to take away from the game, and it's been a while since come away from Moss Lane saying that:

Lawrie looks hungry again, defensively we looked solid and bar the goals cannot remember Dawber making a clear cut save.

Yes, we didn't create much ourselves, but the feeling that when Reeves (not his sort of game, the change fully justified) gets clicking I think we will be fine. We'll need more players to support him with the goals, but I'm confident the burden won't be solely on his shoulders.

No reason why we can't move further in to this season with a positive attitude and being there or thereabouts

Nothing official though, not on club social media or players accounts. If people are getting this information from sources, then they should at least stay quiet until club and/or player has said their piece.

For me the responsibility of clee is as much with himself as well as the management. For numerous pre-seasons, he's not returned to the fitness levels expected, hence why it's usually around October before we see him at full flight. This year, after getting the injury in pre season, he never recovered but we still made him available to play.

IMO, I think we should say to him 'let's see how you look end of June' before deciding on giving him a deal.

I'm not going to go over old ground, as we all know the fundamental reasons why we've gone down, but my thoughts;

I still stand by the turning point of the season being Colchester. On top of the last minute heartache, the extra cash from replay money, and probable FA prize fund for wining, would have been invaluable. As it was, the club as a whole never recovered from it.

The moment I definitely knew we'd go was Halifax, that happens to relegated sides. The 3 games of Halifax, Southport and Kidderminster should had actually brought us 9 points (against 10 men for most of the 2nd half and going1-0 up in the other 2). Instead, due to lack of concentration and sitting too deep, we came away with 2 points. Just that 7 point difference alone would had left us comfortable in 18th.

The issue about not signing players when we had the chance in January. I know we made a few loan signings, arguably too late. As mentioned, the playing budget for this season exceeded last seasons, and with the club in the red, naturally we want to bring ourselves back in to black, so put money aside to clear debts. I don't know if this is the case, but if it is I understand why.

Big changes in personnel and attitude need to be made in summer. As a supporter of 22 years, my enthusiasm for the club has dwindled in these last 5 months, for as much off the pitch as on it.And the worrying thing is know supporters of 50 years, 10 years and 5 years are feeling the same as me. Let's not ruin all the hard work that's been done on the community side of things and bringing more to Moss Lane.

If Shaun Densmore is contracted and currently club captain until a new appointment is made, would it be an idea to have him involved in interviews to give a players perspective?

I'm not saying give him a vote but perhaps he can add something?
nonsense - in what world do you interview your boss?

At my work, my manager was interviewed by the next boss up. However, after the interviews he came to me and he told me about their pros and cons and wanted my thoughts. We went for the guy who seemed more driven to make changes to a computer system that he previously worked on, and nearly a year later we are more productive as a team.

So possibly speak to Densmore after the interviews and see his thoughts.

If you check the predicted results on there too, think's we'll lose against Halifax, Kidderminster and Torquay!! If we stayed up by doing it that way, it would sum us up.

I'm just worried that we've not given ourselves a chance at all here on any level. I think a fair few of the players have switched off (since Barnsley actually) whether that be through lack of competition for places (likely) or just tiring of the management as LS seems to have concluded.

I'd go a little bit forward and say not looked the same since Colchester. We've just never recovered from it. On Saturday as soon as we went 2-1 down the heads went down. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves and get going again. Many on here agree that this side is better than the table suggests, so it's up to them to show they are.
