I might be wrong but I thought I saw stewards turning away some fans who were bringing in hot food to the ground at the last home game. Is this a thing? I hope I was mistaken as it was never an issue
-
You haven’t been able to for a while. Usually get told to eat your chippy before entering.
-
Club need as much turnover from food etc as possible, so seems a sensible ban to me. Food is cheap at ML compared to Maidenhead yesterday. £4.50 for a burger etc. That said they had plenty of venues doing snacks and were doing good trade.
-
There's been signs up at the turnstiles all season saying you can't take food in to the ground.
-
TBH the chips in the clubhouse are Ok but not a patch on the chips over the road! Up until a year or two ago we could bring them in but not now (unless you sneak em in) ha, SBL

You can easily smuggle them in. Pop them in your mouth one at a time, bit of a chew and swallow.
Sssshhhhhh. Don't tell the stewards and there you go.

Then food strategy needs to improve. We're serving limp, under cooked, in seasoned fries.
Stockport food offering is night and day. Choose better ingredients, people won't feel the need to bring in outside food.

Don't disagree we should review the food offering, but cost wise is competitive. Thought food I got from Stockport was awful and expensive. Microwave burger for £7.50 with runny cheese that disintegrated into an awful liquid. Maidenheads burger was awful also for £4.50. Kings Lynn was dire as well and a bottle of pop £2.50!! in fact they charged the same for still water! So were in my opinion better than many.
That said once the Fan Zone opens that should give more variety one hopes.

I'd be very surprised if "The Good Catch - Award winning fish and chip shop" didnt have better chips than a football club!

Ask them to rebrand to the robins retreat and go into partnership with them at the ground on match days 😆
-
Maybe have a zip wire where trays of hot fish and chips can be conveyed into the football ground.

ha ha I love this . Can we set some up in the fan zone as well to scale the perimeter fences ?
-
This is disappointing news, I quite often brought mine in from over the road.

There were reports of a fight in a chip shop

Can't think of any football ground that allows you to bring your own refreshments. You can take your own food and drink on a plane but even then you have to buy it at the airport. Alty have been losing much needed income allowing people in with food in the past. Would you expect to take fish and chips into any restaurant or cafe in Altrincham and sit at their tables eating it?
-
That's a strawman argument. You don't go to a football ground to eat. Quite different from going to a restaurant or cafe.
And yes you can take your own food on to a plane. The guy I travel with does it all the time. Liquid from home is currently banned because of the terrorist threat.
Everyone has a choice. You can fuel up before you get there or buy inside.

Having fully accepted your point may I assume that all our catering outlets can sell me a gluten free hot snack. (I won't try to be honest with you, I eat at home before the game).

I also eat at home before the match...
..then at the match too!!

take a portable cooker in with you and do your own ;)

Like at the cricket in South Africa.
No BBQs in the Carole Nash family stand.
-
People sat in main stand with fish and chips...yet as a season ticket holder I get told I can't. Please sort this out

Can you take hot women into Moss Lane?

If you can pull one I suppose so. I'll never find out...

I always buy food and drink from Boots airside of security. Much better than the rip off on the plane. Hope this shouldn’t be a separate thread like covid.

You can JD. The trick is finding them ha SBL

They haven’t been missing out on my money as it’s Robins Retreat or nothing.

Where's Robins Retreat?

The chip shop opposite the ground. I’ve now remembered it isn’t called that anymore but I’m stuck in the past on many subjects
Don’t get me started on when they rebranded the place in Macc colours

Given the number of £1 pies and free items at the last 2 home games; perhaps we have some hot food smugglers in our fan base.
-
Quite a list of prohibited items posted up by the turnstiles now. Seems sad that unaccompanied kids can't go now. I'm sure many of us started going to Alty just turning up with mates. No prams or buggies, so that limits the young families coming. And no sticks. Does that include walking sticks like the one I'm finding myself using more and more these days?
-
I'm sure it won't include walking sticks. If it does, I've seen my last game at the JDS.
-
And I think unaccompanied kids is restricted to just Under 12's which isnt unreasonable.
-
What about cold food like scampi fries and pork pies

And hot food that's gone cold? Would a flask of soup be ok?

In the wrong hands a pork pie can be quite a dangerous weapon.

I've not seen the pram / buggies but this does seem odd, hardly family friendly

Sticky back plastic (for Blue Peter viewers of a certain vintage)

Just to clarify. The thread asks the question. Is it a request we all bring hot food to the next game?

Bring back the glory days of bringing air horns into the ground
