A great weekend.

With St Albans and FGR drawing plus Tamworth getting a late winner, meaning they get an extra game and their players may concentrate more on not getting injured for cup games.

Oh yes and Vics happened to lose a closely fought game.

If we'd played like that v R&D we would have won, maybe if we play like that against York again we would win ?

I was so proud of the way the team came back from the FA Cup exit. 1-0 defeat it may have been on teletext but no to me.

EVERY PLAYER A CREDIT TO THE CLUB.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Acton v Coburn

It was worth Acton being a sub just to see his amazing volley at half time, maybe with knowing that Coburn will play he's trying his hand at being an outfield player  ???

so a song of "Burn the B*stards F*ckin Head" is not allowed to be sung then ?  :'(

1-1. Thomson Penalty

Was a major signing for us but Brenden had to retire at the age of 29/30 if I recall correctly, not long after joining us.

I remember him as an excellent Stalybridge player as he never had a chance to do anything at Alty.

Half Time . 1-0 Down

First I thought McKenna for goals and menacing factor, then I changed my mind to Kevin Ellison, as we are in desperate need of a winger  then I changed again to Kilcline ... Only kidding   :o

Suppose Kevin Ellision would be my choice. For his ability to beat a player with his speed and that powerful shot he has.

Thoughts .....

PS: Sir Jackie Swindells goals would also be nice I suppose.  ;D

I feel sorry for Scarboro. Might as well have let them stay up and got rid of Crawley last season.

Lets be honest if you neeed money and you get Lewes in the FA Cup and lose then you're doomed. That was an easy £10,000 for them and they blew it.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Lee Hendley
« on: October 30, 2006, 10:41:54 AM »
Disagree. The ball would keep coming back at us. Not all forward players need to be prolific goal scorers.

Joe O'Neil is the best option and has been performing well. If there was a striker next to him banging the goals in would anyone be complaining ?

his job, as far as I see is to hold up the ball and allow players to get up the field and support. We need a player who can holds up the ball and he does this very well or else its back to the long ball and players running around upfront like headless chickens.

Is O'Neil the new Gallagher ? I bet if he scored 2 in a game someone would say he should have had a hat trick.

From what I have seen of Hendley he is nowhere near a first team start and is defintley a good option to have on the bench and come on for the last 20mins of a game.

I am still very eager to see Thomson put on an Alty shirt and see what he can do.

everyone seems to be on a downer, and fair enough I suppose BUT this was maybe just one game too many with the scratch team ?

We have been spoilt with results like
Draws with Weymouth, Oxford and Aldershot. Wins against Stevenage & Halifax and being unbeaten away since losing to Rushden last time.

and instead of being in a position like Southport we are actually doing well in the league. We have beaten the teams around us St Albans, Tamworth, Southport and got a very good draw away at FGR.

I would gladly have accepted 20pts from 17 games rather than a 1st Round FA Cup appearance if asked at the beginning of the season.

"''typical non league player''" ... Well we are a non league club like yourselves  ;) so the sort of player to have

I just think he is more clumsy than cynical. and you are allowed to "Stick you foot in" as long as you don't foul. What did you want him to do applaud your players as they ran towards him ?

I think Val did well to actually get near your players to be able to foul them, some of our team didn't seem to be able to do that.
