The last man to accomplish this particular feat whilst playing in a match for the Robins was a certain Warren Peyton.
Prior to the turnstile block-constructing midfield dynamo, the last man to have achieved it for Alty had been Andy Green.
So, what was it?
-
Is it missing a penalty in an FA Cup match?
-
Is it being sent off after coming on as a substitute?
-
Neither of the above two suggestions are correct.
Clue: it's pertinent to this time of the year....
-
Scoring in both the home and away Christmas/New Year fixtures?
-
I'm not sure if this is the answer, but no one, and i mean no one, has ever worn a denim shirt with the same degree of causality as Warren Peyton.
-
And before that Stuart Terry and Steve Craven.
-
Played both for and against Alty on Boxing Day?
-
Boxing day and New Years Day ha-tricks?
-
And before that Stuart Terry and Steve Craven.
Robin Hood Robin has worked it out!
Stuart Terry versus Halifax Town in 1994.
Steve Craven against Vics at The Drill Field in 1983 (Tony Sanders' final away match as the Alty manager).
So, has that enlightened everyone then...?

Scoring after coming on as a substitute in both Xmas fixtures?

No.

My guess was based on the inclusion of Stuart terry in that list - but Dale Johnson would have been on the list...so not right
who would have been before Craven?

Graham Heathcote (hat-trick); Jeff Johnson and John King.
Does that help...?
-
Heathcote hatrick would have been the Workington game?
-
Scored on 31st December

Scored on 31st December
Correct.
Peyton was the last Alty player to do it - in a 1-1 draw at Tamworth in 2005.
-
Heathcote hatrick would have been the Workington game?
Indeed, it would.
A 5-1 drubbing of Workington at Moss Lane on New Year's Eve 1977.
-
we went 1 down in that game, Gilliot scoring in the 39th minute (I remember because i still think of 35th to 39th as being the "danger period" because of that goal).
We came flying out of the traps in the second half - and Heathcotes hat trick included a sublime lob (might even have been his hat trick goal). It was rare to see us score 5 in a game back then - we usually declared at 4: 4-1 at home and 4-0 away happened often...

I think the Steve Craven goal was at Northwich in a 1-1 Draw , possibly a last minute equaliiser aswell.
That was a Saturday 31st too.
