Police pop into pubs in hale
« on: November 03, 2007, 12:02:06 PM »

to say be closed till 3 next week because of millwalls fans i presume they will be doing this in alty.  They are not forcing the delayed openings just recommending, all this is from a valid source from the railway in hale.

Looks like mags and the off licence near stanny park are going to get hammered with custom if the pubs follow the police recommendation

My sources at Interpol have confirmed this story !
I know that letters have been sent to Altrincham landlords recommending that they review their existing arrangements and consider the need for additional measures.
Landlords are not being asked to close, but they are being advised not to open early. They are however being advised to close if they are unable to 'control the door'.

My interpretation of this is, that police are basically saying, be selective who you let in, because we won't be around to deal with it.
In essence, put a doorman on..........no different to any pub near a league ground on a matchday.

Supporters of Millwall who have come for a football game should have no problems.

A temporary police station (more like a converted container!)  has appeared outside Hale Railway station.  :o

It even has a cell (for 1)  ;D

If your a regular at the Bridge inn in alty, they will let you in there. But most places are staying shut untill the Millwall fans leave, probably so they dont go drinking beforhand and start a riot when the lose.

Perhaps I'm just being naive but I'm sure if they just let 750 Millwall fans into the pubs they'd just have a drink. As long as there's nobody there to wind them up surely they'd just get on with it. If you treat them like animals then that's how they'll behave. How tedious if you travel 200 miles and no one will serve you a beer. Surely the George could open?

I believe most Millwall fans are coming by train.  Presume they will drink around Manchester so they won't go thirsty.

Police cause 90% of problems at football. Millwall supporters have always known this.

Sorry Baldrick....could you type that again please?

I'm not sure I believe that I just  read that.

Oh and by the way the Police have been into a number of the pubs and bars in Sale as well to suggest that they don't open until maybe 3.00pm.

This is the problem. Nobody believes it until they see it for themself. I have witnessed it many times at Millwall home and away.
