Hi everybody, been a while since I've been on here.
Just wanting to know if you can give us approximate numbers for how many will be travelling up as we need to order your pies and peas!!
They're free to away supporters.
Will be great to see you all next Saturday, will be a good game, but we'll have to play better than we did yesterday
Have a safe trip
-
Remarkably generous offer bonz, there are 8/10 of us on the 8:51 out of Victoria that I know of getting to shildon for just after 11.
-
I reckon there will be around 50-60 there Bonz, which I think is about what we brought last time.
We are hoping to get travel on for it (it's been a very expensive week with a longish trip yesterday and Workington on Tuesday) so that would be 14-16 on there and we always have a core who travel under their steam.
-
OK thanks for the replies.I'm meeting the early ones at the train station at quarter past eleven.Looking forward to seeing you all again
-
A bit anorak I know, but shildon railway meuseum has asked me to let visiting fans know that the flying Scotsman is there on Saturday, it will be fully steamed up and free to go on board and pull on the whistle, if anyone wants to pretend they're Casey jones,, personally I'd like you all to come straight to the ground, have a drink with me and put a few bob over the bar, but being the good lad I am I've done as requested

Know of a few Alty fans who will be fully steaming an' all.

it's a tough place to go, would be happy with a draw

After much fannying around im now going.
Sincerely hope it's Jones and Harrison at cb.
Praying that Poole is fit.
Looking forward to the day.
Would take a draw

You got your wish with Harrison,Jones and Poole. Samburg on bench and Deasy not in the squad, must be injured. Miller and Amis on the bench but maybe to just make up numbers.
-
Scrap that,Poole withdraws again before kick off so Harrop starts.
-
Scrappy game. Must have 10free kicks. 1 decent save by their keeper.
Highlight, stroking a big chocolate Labrador

Is that a euphemism? :)

SHAMBLES >:( >:(
-
is that our earliest ever exit ? :'( :'(
-
No Poole, no party
-
Dreadful result. Parkinson with it all to prove in the next few games, because with the budget he has been given we shouldn't be sat 12th in the table and dumped out of the cup.

No but sure feels like it.

Spot on. Yet another awful day in our recent history. Has any club in British football suffered more cup defeats by lower league teams than we have in the last 6/7 years? Wretched.
-
No longer giant killers I'm afraid, more likely to be victims. Big loss of revenue now too. Appear to have got it wrong today.
-
Utter dog sh*t.
No tempo, no creative spark.
Game was only worthy of a 0-0. Both keepers had very little to do.
Feel sorry for Thompson as he saved the pen and watched as the rest of the did as of the team as the rebound was headed home.
-
Awful. I thought we had turned the corner away at Barwell. I was deluded. This was a massive pile of dog turd.
-
I have highlighted keeper problem since day 1, they are both s☆☆t.
Parkinson still hasn't proved he can manage anything, pulling wool over Rowleys eyes. But then he has a white stick!
New low !
-
Don't think it was goal keeper problems that cost us the game today

I was referring to the season in general rather than today when saying we need a new keeper.
-
We need a striker and goalkeeper. Everyone can see it, strange PP can't.
-
Just seen their goal. He's score a reasonably unchallanged header after a saved penalty - not even from the taker.
Why was it even a penalty? The player took a shot and missed then it's brought back for a penalty. >:(
-
Keep on clapping

We also need Simon Richman instead of Sam Sheridan.

Sheridan must be bad if Richman is a better option!
-
1874 northwich have just take the lead against north ferriby. Out of the FA cup before a supporters team..

Have you actually watched Richman this season?

Correct.
-
I haven't the patience to listen to PP's interview. But the heading "no positives" is the most clear statement of the bleeding obvious I've seen in a long time.

Yes and I'm not just going off this season. Maybe he's found his level now but he's got to be the most average footballer to have played so many games for Altrincham FC.

I've just read the interview on the main site,he's clearly not happy. The one point that stood out though was he thinks the front men have been firing prior to yesterday which is a bit worrying.
-
I just hope some of the under performing players take one of Parky's growing number of invites to leave the club. Otherwise Paky might have to actually tell them to go.
-
This season, Richman has been decent whether in midfield or at rb

Richman was playing really well until he got injured. He is just simply a ball winner who I feel we have hugely missed. I have not been impressed with Sheridan. He is over weight for a start. A fit Richman and Miller will make a big difference.

Quite. PP is so extravagantly remorseful in that interview that he's made himself a bit of a hostage to fortune. If we get beaten by Farsley on Tuesday, what does he say then?

we shouldn't interview him if that happens . speak to one of the players instead .

Perhaps we could interview the Chairman and get an update on how/if there is any progress on future investment, shares being sold etc.

First time I've seen the team this season. They looked resplendent in their purple sprouting broccolli. It explained the Abbey Hey and Workington results for me. They're an Evostick quality team, no more, no less, on this showing. Lots of poor decision making in the final third, so possession and good attacking positions were wasted or became just half chances. Confidence looks frail. They had a grip and a tempo in the first 10 minutes of the second half, that then melted away through lack of grit and leadership on the pitch. A formation of snowflakes. It was no wonder they conceded in the end.
Off the pitch, well, having been in the bar I now know how cramped the Romans felt at Cannae, and Mrs Perm was injured by a rapier-like plastic fork. The last time I was here, the score was 8-0 to Shildon: they are not as lethal now thankfully. And all the while, the Gods looked on from Olympus at their legacy. The Gods are dead: bring on the new Gods.

This was always going to be a tough game. The top sides at that level are up with the top evostick sides. They don't have the overheads and are happy to compete in their own little bubble. Teams in this league make their money winning the fa vase year on year at Wembley.
Look at South Shields - champions of the northern league last year, just won 3-0 at darlo in the fa cup. Will run away with evostick one this year. Teams from the northern league don't usually accept promotion.
Wouldn't use a one off game like this as a yardstick, they have some quality players. Need to accept we are no longer a conference side and look at things as a level playing field. A club like Alty will come good again, are heading in the right direction if a bit slowly. it can take time especially rebuilding a whole new side from a poor position. Not an easy thing to take but that's life.

Shildon will play Banbury United away. What a missed opportunity.

What makes you believe we'd have had an easy passage at Banbury?

Shouldn't have been tough though, we beat Morpoth last year with England's worst team. This is No one off game either - this is the FA cup. It's part of our identity - doing well in this competition.

Considering Banbury are 7th in the Evostick South and on good form, I would suggest it would have been almost certain defeat

We are capable of much better than we showed on Saturday.

Not consistently we're not - not when the going gets tough. This season is so much following the pattern of Sinnots first. We will enough to be around the top 8, I said before this team has no bollocks (unless its arguing with supporters on the way out of the ground)

You have hit the nail on the head. The current team is capable of very good football, but I wouldn't trust them on, say, a wet Tuesday in Workington to get a result.
It will be the biggest task for Phil Parkinson to instil some mettle in this talented team.
-
If only we could get John King to spend 10 minutes with them, yes I know unrealistic and it would undermine Phil but that's the sort of thing that's needed.
