Unfortunately there are Refs that seem to think that they and not the players are the central attraction.
Also a major problem is that many Refs are inconsistant with decisions.
I am not defending poor officiating but lets face it the players are mainly to blame. If there werent so many chancers and cheats around Refereeing wouldnt be so difficult. I have just watched the Ireland match and the Ities still have the art of cheating and diving down to perfection, so much so that they make deliberately stopping  goal scoring opportunities look like petty obstruction offences. Its a pity that FIFA didnt stop them decades ago and even more a pity that the rest of the football world has chosen to copy this garbage. Its a very poor example that this behaviour contributes to make a side world champions.
We must also remember that Refs form an essential part of the game and without them it would be total anarchy.

My only complaint about the referee yesterday was that he did not clamp down on MTFC's fouling from the start. I think I had already counted 7 or 8 before the major incident with Clee/Senior. Some of them looked really bad, especially Denhams. However, there was no excuse for the sendings off in all honesty, we just rose to the bait of Mansfields players cynical play.

We did well yesterday however despite this to pull a goal back and almost get something out the the game. I think we could have won that game with the 11 players yesterday despite going a goal down.

Nevertheless I am still very proud of the players yesterday for not giving up and throwing in the towel.

I didn't actually change anything to it.

The player who the Mansfield fans should be singing the praises of is Silk, whose cheating
tactics led to the sending off of the two Alty players & the ref was conned by it.
