Philipstine,
The point was that his job isn't to be mobile and pacey. It is to be firm in the heart of defence, winning aerial battles and organising others around him. i.e. being a 'rock'. Although he is still noticeable swifter than Talbs. I think the thing was at the start of the season it was the first time he'd played in a (relatively) poor side for the best part of 12 years and the positions he had always taken up were leaving him somewhat more exposed.
Now they have gelled and he knows where to position himself, or maybe more to the point the rest of the defence are listening to him more and where he is positioning them, we're *touch wood* looking more solid.
Laney has been very good as well thus far. Robbie has played well at times, I'm not expecting him to play well when he's on the wing, not really his fault. Hopefully, the improvements will continue.
