A captain isn't just on the pitch

It's about firing them up before the game, half time and being able to pick them up after a defeat

They should set an example for the test in terms of spirit and effort

A captain needs to give 100% week in week out

Quite right. That's why Lawton gets my vote.

I'll never forget the last game of last season against Eastbourne, and our keeper let in the softest goal I've ever seen after Alty were doing so well to pile the pressure on at the other end. Lawton looked devastated and it was then I realised how much being an Altrincham player meant to him. After Tinson left, Lawton was the only one and he should be given the chance to captain the side in this new season.

Agreed, much of what goes on with captains we do not see, aside from what is on the pitch. Robbie is inspirational to the side, and lives and breathes the club like so may of us do. It's in our blood.

For me it should be Lawton as captain and Paul Jones as vice. I do like Robbie as a right-back currently, by the way, I hope he does to!
