Potentially the signing we needed. I can't wait for this season to start.

Well done to the management team again.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe that the last 5 fees that we have paid were for the following players:-

Conor Branson 2019
Andy White 2017
Peter Band 2002
Kevin Ellison 1999
Keith Russell 1998

Didn't we pay a fee for Gary Talbot when we re-signed him from the Vics? Or would that have been pre-98?

My recollection is that we sold Gary Talbot to Vics but that he rejoined us without a fee being paid.

Didn't we pay a fee for Andy "Spud Van" MacDonald in 2002?

I am not sure about Andy McDonald or Kevin Ellison either way, but remember the others being signed for money.

However, I wanted to say that I thought this was a very good bit of news management by the club with the bad news of Poole"s departure being followed very swiftly by the good news of Branson's signing. Obviously, this has been talked about for some time, but the release was timed carefully. I refuse to say anything about us possibly being in a pickle otherwise, but welcome to the club, Conor.

I hope Flynny has the right teeth in when Conor Branson and Connor Hampson are on the field together  ;)

If he's on the bench a new chant "Bring out the Branson"  would be very apt... Or maybe not !!! 🤐

Does that mean he would only be brought on if we were in a pickle?

Sounds like he was converted from centre back at some point, natural leader, assume he'd slot straight into the starting XI alongside Moulty in our 4231.

Interesting that his day job is business development for a performance analytics company - been a very big part of Alty's revival of course.

Something tells me he's going to be a big player for us.

The three brand new arrivals look to be absolute quality. Can see two going straight into the starting 11.

Branson and Moult side by side as a midfield two will be incredibly solid. Both like to play deep, though, so I wonder whether Jake may be encouraged to push further on as he used to do earlier in his Alty career under Sinnott. He hasn't always been the holding midfielder we see now. Interesting and exciting times.

Would have thought it would be the other way round to be honest - Branson scored 12 goals last season.

He's a converted centre back and in his interview he mentions his style is to sit deep. I believe the majority of those goals were from set pieces.

EDIT: Now we need to make sure we get it in the box!
