If the 2 wingers are better than crowther that seems the right team

I'd just give them a go, might give Grimsby somthing to think about in the first half

Superb looking formation, I hope both new wingers get a go at the same time at some point.

I think you'll be impressed Jimmy. I liked the cut of their jib on Tuesday night. Let's see what they do tomorrow.

That's almost a bold 4-2-4. It'd give us something different for sure.

4-5-1 and a dodgy 0-0 draw will do fine.  Then wins against Woking and Dover with the attacking lineups suggested.....

have you seen where Woking and Dover are in the league?

Do you think were strong enough to play attacking line ups against top 6 opposition?

Are we strong enough to play defensive lineups against top 6 opposition?

Did think it was a bit optimistic Havern making a comeback after a few days if he has a broken nose.

Have faith, it won't be over until we have missed a hatfull of chances, despite countless promising attacks, and Grimsby hit us on the counter after overcommitting in the 87th minute  ;D

Buggered the moment it was announced Luca wouldn't be playing! Just hope it's not 10. Were always going to lose today. The season starts v Woking.

All for a shake up, but throwing three new loanee's in is a big risk and not paying off.

Surely 4-5-1 was a must today and shutting them down quickly.

Ref sounds poor.
Title: Re: Grimsby - Match thread
Post by: jhcorbett on January 23, 2016, 03:54:50 PM
HT 2-0 down.
Still plenty of time to pick up more injuries and ref sounds more random than usual according to Radio Robins, so a red card and suspension possible as well...

Does Radio Robins chat room not work?

Don't blame him trying loanee's , but our defence is non existent , no cover at all , maybe we should of looked at getting defenders on loan .

Pretty sure everybody has suggested anything we get here will be a bonus.

That being the case, there is an implicit assumption this is a free game.  What better time to see how our new signings can fit in together?

A little perspective, perhaps?

We're losing to Grimsby away! It doesn't get worse than that.

Going down, SINNOUT etc

There are no free games, we need to approach every game to get something from it.

My opinion is Lee has made a mistake today. previously we have got in there faces. We wont do it with 2 wingers and 2 forwards on. So philosophy today was lets score more than they do? Mmmm think not.

I hope we can get back into the game.

I agree we should strengthen the defense, especially at RB.

That went well , surely he now must realise we cant hope to stay up playing two up front and have no bloody defence .
Title: Re: Grimsby - Match thread
Post by: eightiesrobin on January 23, 2016, 05:03:31 PM
If the loan players have to play (as someone suggested they do) then we're stuck with 2 up front, unless he drops Rankine as well as Reeves.
Title: Re: Grimsby - Match thread
Post by: finnquark on January 23, 2016, 05:04:04 PM
Today's highlights were Barrow coming from behind to beat Welling, and Borehamwood letting in a late equaliser.

Goes without saying Woking is a big game. They've a mediocre away record, and if we can something against them and Dover, we've got manageable fixtures for a few games afterwards.

That's why he's brought in a loan forward rather than a defender....sigh
