Title: OK - I'll hold my hand up....

.... I've often been critical of our substitutions. Just watched the highlights of yesterday's game. Furman sends Jackson clear, Jackson puts in a peach of across that Peers duly buries. What do I know ? 😂

In Parky we trust...

To be fair, if there's any manager who deserves the benefit of the doubt, it's probably him, after our best start at this level in decades. He seems to be being proved right so far anyway, and whatever he wants to do with squad rotation, subs etc. I will trust it if we are improving on last season. Hopefully we can do even better next season if we progress towards full time football (and carry on getting crowds like this). Here's hoping!

This is actually our equal best ever start in the National League.  We matched 18 points from 9 games in 1994-95 season but we've never bettered it

Didn't they have a funny system of awarding points in the early days? I'm sure there was one season where away wins were treated differently to home wins or something?

That not withstanding, it's a superb effort from the lads this season and puts us in a great position to... stay up! I'll not get to carried away yet, but certainly so far so good with the five year plan.

For a year or two, very early 80's I think, a home win was awarded two points and an away win was three points. The rationale was to encourage away teams to attack rather than park the bus. What ended up happening was home teams became much more defensive, so the scheme was abandoned.
