Gutted (as I suspect everyone is) following today's result, regardless of whether people support GH/DS/The Board or not, please consider the following:
1) Look at the other teams who are full-time and have found themselves in "buttock clenching" mode today and also dependant on other results for survival.
2) Look at said teams who are considerably in debt whilst failing miserably to provide some kind of return on their investment in full-time players and staff.
3) Would the managers of these teams relish the challenge of working with part-time players, on a limited budget? I think not.
4) Don't forget that a few years ago, Alty nearly folded. It is in no small part thanks to the efforts and generosity of the Board members that we are in such an excellent financial state. It would have been nice to have unlimited funds for buying players, but the club has to be run as a viable business. Don't forget that every pound being paid in interest on debts is a pound less to spend on the club - look at the likes of Weymouth, still heavily in debt from last season's promotion campaign.
I rest my case m'lud.
