Altrincham FC First Team / Did the wrong man resign - POLL
« on: December 27, 2007, 03:02:52 PM »
People seem to think the GH is the right man for the job. Personally I think that he should have resigned and we should have given the job to Dalton Steele.

I hope somebody remembers to check international clearance if we sign Aaron Burns if he has played in Iceland!

Altrincham FC First Team / Defending at Corners and Set Pieces
« on: August 12, 2007, 08:42:27 AM »
Does anybody know why we always have 11 players back in our box defending?

All it means is that if we successfully defend the corner/freekick the ball just comes straight back as there is nobody up front to hold the ball or pressurise the opposition defender.

It also means that the opposition can have 9 players in and around our box. Surely it makes more sense to leave somebody up front.

Plus the number of times we are segregated will be minimal, it'll be nice to watch from behind the goal at each end again.

Plus we have the added bonus of gaining access to Keith's snack bar!

I am a supporter of the club and have watched them from the terraces for the last 30 years.

GH tactics over the last few weeks have been questionable.

If the team had put in the performance in at Tamworth last week that they gave yesterday we would still be in the conference. Yesterday the team showed that they wanted to stay in the conference last week until GH was forced into fielding a more attacking formation the players didn't perform.

The team showed yesterday that they had the ability to compete in the conference but due to GH tactics in a number of games this season we have been relegated.

I think the club should take the relegation as an opportunity to rebuild. There are a number of players who are now coming to the end of the career we need to look at replacing them and bringing in fresh talent.

The question that remains to be asked is GH the man to do the job? My personal opinion is that we should give Dalton a chance to prove that he is the man.

Altrincham FC First Team / Time for Heathcote to go?
« on: April 21, 2007, 07:54:35 PM »
After todays performance (or lack of one!!!) I think it is time Graham Heathcote stood down and let somebody take the club forward.

Todays performance was useless in the first half we had one shot that cleared the bar by about 10 foot. With the introduction of Rod and Talbot in attack the second half was slightly better.

In a must win game we had 4 defenders on the bench. We played our usual ineffective high balls most of the time the few times we got the ball on the floor we looked dangerous.

I know that GH isn't on the pitch but he decided the tactics and if players haven't been following them they should have been dropped.

Please spare me the part time and/or lots of injuries excuses. What's the point of having a reserve team if you don't use them surely it's better to put fit reserve players keen to what they can do  on the bench than injured 1st team players.

I hope we still stay up by beating Aldershot next week but even if we do it's still time for a change at the top.

In the end the book stops at the manager.

Unfortunately one member of the team that day the late flying winger Paul Gee wouldn't be able to join in any reunion game but there are plenty others who can.

I'm pretty sure that it was Wigan Alty playing in nets that day and John Wood had returned from 'losing his wallet' to a lady he met in the night club in time to play in defence along side myself.

Not forgetting Ian Moss being his usual mouthy self.

As the gazelle said the Weymouth side wasn't in fact a true supporters team fielding a number of ringers.
