Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Why we don't deserve to go up
« on: April 13, 2014, 09:07:47 AM »
I don't disagree with what you are saying about the midfield needing to be strengthened but if Boshell had stayed we probably would have walked the league.

As has been said finding players of the calibre we need with the funds we have available is difficult.

I personally prefer watching the attacking football we have seen for the last 3 years than the defensive rubbish served up by his predecessor for a number of years.

We brought some good players in last summer and I would expect us to do the same this summer.

We've not turned up against the top teams in the league but we can do it in the play offs.

From what I have seen this year we are one dimensional all attacks down the left. Teams have realised that now and ensure the Clee/Doughty partnership are stopped. Last year when this occurred we switched it to Watmore on the right who had the space and skill to run at the defence.

As numerous people have said we need a right winger to offer options. I believe if we have that then we could perm two from three of Reeves/Walshaw and Perry and we would score the goals

What is the best way of contacting somebody from the club at night?

It'll be interesting to see how much these players fancy playing away at Workington on a Tuesday night in January

I'd like to second the thank you to Brian for sorting out the tickets. My other half will also be attending her first ever football game so hopefully after it i'll be able to convince her to come down to moss lane.

I normally watch the game from the terraces but today watched it from the main stand. What was obvious that with Robbie Lawton being injured and Stu having the armband there was nobody barking orders on the pitch. Nothing against Stu but I believe you need the captain to be an outfield player to encourage the other players.

Tony,

Don't you need two seats anyway without the food? That's what the old bald one told me.

The only issue I can see is that by the sounds of things he is not very tall. If only we could convince our defence and midfield to pass the ball on the floor we'd be a lot further up the league.

It doesn't sound like he'll be winning many of the headers launched forward to the attack!

I don't see how one victory changes everything! Although victory at Northwich was sweet the team struggled to beat 8 men.

Lets look at the subs he made with Northwich the score was 1-1 and they were down to 9 men so GH replaces a full back with another full back. The team then continues to play with a back 5 rather than switching to a back 3 and bring on Pat McFadden to chase down their defenders. It's no wonder the attack struggled to make any in roads into their defence rather than playing nice one twos and using the extra players to create the openings we continued playing the same way.

It's no wonder that the Northwich manager thought his team were unlucky not to get something out of the game.
