Sinderland used to be Sunderland but the U was changed to i so that we would not be confussed with "mackems", even though we play in mackem red and white stripes. This also means that my son-in-law who comes from Newcastle and is a magpies fan will not set foot inside Moss lane. Maybe we should return to red and white quarters like when I were a lad.
