Leather rejects deal.
New gk within 24 hrs

Rumour of chorley ? If he ends up in the same league as us it does not make great reading
-
He's gone to a team in the same league.
We can't match wages. If we can't match wages you have to sell the philosophy.
We're a fooked to be honest
-
If Scott has gone anywhere that isn't full time ill be disappointed tbh.
Unless Scott didn't want to sign one, he should have been on one along side moult
-
Decision made regarding whether to buy a season ticket or not
-
The other three haven't jumped in to sign a contract yet!!!!
Are they waiting for better offers??
-

Glad to see him leave then!?
-
gutted about that. If NY can't convince a player who has seen us first hand to stay how is he going to attract any new ones?

its not always just about money either players will choose to be where they feel they will be most happy as well as the reward

Yes Wayne. As I said If the wedge doesn't keep them then the philosophy must.
He was very cleary comfortable here.
-
That's bad news. Been a very good player for us. Had blips in form last year but I was convinced that was because he was always moved to right back. Two centre backs now needed. Will they be better than a Havern / Leather partnership? Time will tell
-
My biggest fear is the replacements will be average conference north players
-
3 player of the season awards, 2013-14.
IMO, a big loss of a young talented player, unless he was being greedy.
Does not augur well for the season ahead.
-
I fear the loss of Havern and Leather. Griffin was the correct decision but for me Havern wasn't and those two together at this level were a must for me. The spine of the team looked OK but now is a worry and will Reeves and Rankine sign ? Not so sure. I hope Mr Young's connections pull some quality signings.
-
Why all the negativity? Neil Young offered him a deal and hes chased the money. He has clearly forgotten the support that the club have given him over the last few years and therefore good luck to him - if he doesn't want to be here then we shouldn't mourn him. Lets give the manager at least a few games before we criticise him.
-
If he wants to go to Chorley for a few more quid then we can't begrudge him that, most people follow the money whatever their profession is.
He was poor for much of last season in my book and whilst a local and homegrown player leaving is always hard to stomach I don't think this is anywhere near as bad for us long term as most people seem to be making out.
-
Consistently a poor performer last season, cost us a place in the third round of the FA Cup.Your either with us or not, no room for sentiment.Reminds me of Maddoxs misguided foray to Barrow.
-
not sad to see him go, was surprised to see he was retained, a liability in the end! good news, more space for a proper CB.
-
Yep, inconsistent last year and needs nurturing, you offer him money and he turns it down. Not youngs fault.
-
I'm not sure why some people seem to think Scott owes us something. It's the nature of one-year part-time contracts. His has expired and after four years of service he's decided to go elsewhere. Its a short career and if he wants to try something new we have no right to criticise that.
He's a bit of a loss but as others have pointed out he's been very inconsistent over the last season or so, maybe because he's had to do two jobs with Jordan Sinnott being an incompetent right-back.
It's now on the manager to use his "contacts" to find lads to the same standard as Havern and Leather. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does.

Leather/Havern were average conference north players - we need better

homegrown? You mean Crewe grown
-
At Crewe from being a kid then briefly at Preston before landing here. A Sale lad.
-
Scott is a local boy, from Sale like me. I went to school with his dad.
I am so sorry Scott has decided to leave but I wish him well in his future, he has made a major contribution to the team and for me his tackling has always been superb. He has chipped in with a couple of goals, and even though some of you think he has been a liability, I think he has rescued us on many occasions. He is still young and relatively inexperienced but we are now seeing natural progression of his career, which he sees as lying elsewhere sadly.
I am always sorry to see good players go, but I also think he is entitled to seek new challenges and feel his career would be a step back if he stayed. Why should we begrudge that?
Good luck for the future to you and all the family Scott, as an old school pals son, I wish you well with your future.
-
A decent player but not one I'd throw massive money at on a tight budget. If he's been offered more money elsewhere and he thinks it will benefit his football career then fair play to him. I'm looking forward to seeing who he new keeper is as I'm presuming he'll be a quality keeper after the release of Deasy who was the only released player I was disappointed to see go.
-
When you go down a league this is what happens I'm more botherd we lost deasey
As for the ticket prices it's a disgrace they are not half price after what the club have
Done to the fans we might go up in about 5 years
-
I have to say I'm really upset by this - but the club, as always, will move on. Good luck to the lad I suppose.
-
Don't be upset this is the back lash of a disastrous season don't shed a tear for them lot
-
Just try and keep rankine if he ain't already gone reeves is past it now
-

Probably a bit better than that when on form imo

You'd really rather keep Rankine than Reeves?

yes to be honest I prefer rankine reeves can't win headers like rankine
And win the ball like him

I can't believe people would be so accepting of Scott if he moves sideways for a few quid.
The amount of stick we give players who go to Barrow for a few extra quid or jump around the southern club whenever there's money about.
-
As I've said previously, it's alarming how fickle some of our fans are - I can't believe we're now calling the likes of Luca and Leather 'average at best'.
It'll be tough to replace them - but I have faith in the manager and his ability to bring a decent calibre of fresh faces in.

did you not see much of last season?
Average at best is an over statement by far

New gk within 24 hrs
Almost 44 hrs and counting......
-
I was just thinking that!
-
Leather was very good when someone was guiding him.
Marshall/ Holness and Leather would be a very good pairing.

They were good enough to get us out of conf North two years ago and Scott has improved since then

Gone to Chorley fc

Nice of Chorley to rub our faces in it by writing that he turned down an offer from us to join them.
-
To be fair to Chorley they have only stated what happened.
A few weeks ago most of us on here would have given most the squad away when we were dropping points for fun
Have faith in NY to sort it.

Jake Moult, would be my first name on the team sheet every game.
Why him Jamie?
-
As suspected, Scott was persuaded to move by his mate,... this from a Chorley fan below,..
"I doubt Whitham will be going anywhere, he seemed to be instrumental in Scott Leather joining us (big mates)".
