I seem to recall that Jonathon Bateson signed on a month's loan on 3 March from Accrington Stanley.
Has there been any announcement or anyone heard what is happening when his loan period runs out ?
-
Not yet, but imagine its very much on the menu on saturday depending on who is fit after that match ;)
-
Ian,
Hope it's curry, and not Bateson on the menue on Saturday!!! ;)
-
We give him a nice shirt that says "I played for alty fc" then show him the door

I hope it's more Tony Curry than John !

What do you all think of Bateson? I don't particularly like him after he appeared to go out of his way to maim Barrow players.

I wouldn't hold that against him....
Not seen much of him but looked ok against Tamworth when he came on. However in TUesday's pressure game you could see him freezing up a bit - understandable really he's still a very young lad who's not played in important games before. One of the reasons Suggs Piergianni has impressed tbh.
-
There appeared to be some niggle between him and Ryan Brown during the substitution on Saturday. I'm not quite sure about him to be honest.

Loan extended until the end of April

Since the lads arrival on loan, the season has improved dramatically, Not saying it's down to him but some of the "thug" comments are well off the mark. One booking in 6 appearances for a defender is hardly Vinnie Jones territory. Seems steady enough to me. Good performance in the 2nd half against Southport.
Anyone that contributes to Altrincham FC staying in the Blue Square Prem is worthy of praise rather than derision in my eyes. Clearly the Manager thinks he's worthy of taking part in the fight for survival. That's good enough for me.

yes agree not lit the place up,but seems qiute steady player, certanly not worth bad remarks.
-
As long as the lad gives his all for the cause then thats good enough for me
-
with the impending result of what happened with james smith against kidderminster, i am glad we have bateson, doesn't really do anything wrong and performs to a decent standard.
-
I think he is a steady player who works hard and gets the job done. What more do you want from a defender?
-
Jonathan did well today.
-
Jonathan did well today.
Agreed. Best game I've seen him have.
-
Macc are signing this chap by all accounts.
Is he any good?
Compared to Sam Wedgbury (so we've got the same frame of reference! I know they are different positions)
-
Pretty average conf player imo
-
Wedgbury impressed me more.
-
steady, does whats requied
is he back from injury?

Ddint his father post on here that his injury was quite bad and it would be several months before he would recover

Its been several months :o He was quite steady, had a reputation for diving into tackles before he came to us, saw glimpses of that, but he should do a decent job for you at right back, during your upcoming relegation season ;D
-
Took a while to settle in, but eventually did a steady but unspectacular job till he was injured by a diabolical tackle at Fleetwood.
-
the best thing he did was smash the midge who played for Newport (away) into the sponsor boards!!! sooooo funny!
-
Nothing against the lad but surprised he's being signed by a side in league two.
Which reminds me, Andrai Jones has just signed a new 12 month contract with League One Bury, which is slightly surprising for those of us who saw him out of his depth at Kettering for 45 mins.
Although in fairness both are young lads.
-
He has indeed signed for Mac.
Good luck to him.
-
.........ARSED :D
-
Followed by Lewis Chalmers signing a new deal.
Chalmers, Bateson, Wedgbury.. You're turning into our feeder team! :P :P

Yes feeding you out of the league ;D
-
Two seasons of improved finishes.
We'd have made the top ten if Butch hadn't have died.

on the contrary. You're turning into our cast offs team. ;)

Staggering.

In what way? Several players have referred to that and it hit the club very, very hard. Not just because it affected the players so much, but because we lost a very talented player. We were eighth not long before it happened.
