Anyone know if he's got a club yet?
I know it's a long shot but.....if, for instance, he decides to go into full time work!
-
Reading and Coventry have been linked with him .There will be plenty of league clubs interested.
-
I'm sure he'll still want to give full-time football a go, to be honest - even if he halves his wages he'll be on a decent living, and with a good few years left in him.
I still think somewhere like Salford would be good for him - he'll be great at that level.

Or Bolton if he comes back to the North West

Anyone know if he has lined up a club yet?
I was speaking with a board member of Motherwell today in work. He was saying how they get players from lower/non league clubs and often sell them on for a profit and I mentioned Duncan to him - suggested he look at Youtube clips of him and mention to his scouts.
I don't know if Duncan will stay in football, but if so, could do worse than Motherwell who do have a reputation for bringing on players - one of theirs - David Turnbull - has recently signed for Celtic for £3.25 mill.
I hope I am not out of order doing this as I would love to see Duncan gracing a top division again.

From The Times: 5th September 2020:
Mastering time
Duncan Watmore, the football-playing son of new ECB chairman Ian Watmore, has put his free time during lockdown to good use by completing a master’s degree.
Watmore, 26, is a free agent after being released by Sunderland in the summer. He wrote his master’s thesis on Common Goal, the charity launched with the backing of Manchester United’s Juan Mata, where supporters pledge 1 per cent of their salary to a global fund.

Thanks for that Cult. That just shows the quality of the chap; he really is the sort of bloke you root for as he seems never to stop trying and never takes anything for granted.
-
Maybe we should see if he fancies a short term contract ?hes not really a number 9 but could I'm sure play at this level there
-
I agree, let's get Duncan week by week contract whilst he looks for a club. He can get match fitness with us......
Better than him sat on his arse.

To be fair I’d hope he avoids Bolton at all costs.
-
Probably end up at Fylde.
-
I hope we're looking at George Newell at Southport as a possible replacement.
-
Could be heading to A League side Central Coast Mariners. He could follow in the footsteps of Matty Crowell!
-
Would be brilliant for him under such a great manager: (from John Laidlar):
The Teesside Gazette Live reports that Middlesbrough boss "Neil Warnock is interested in signing Duncan Watmore after the former Sunderland forward impressed on trial at Boro.

Time to move on.

Where is Chris senior these days. ?

Time to move on.
A universally well liked ex-player makes a come back from injury, gets a new club in the champions ship and bags an assist on his debut and you still manage to be negative.
I take my hat off to you, you truly are a master of your art.
Now please shut the hell up, the world has enough negativity at the moment.

Indeed. I would have responded yesterday, but might have said something less than polite!

Spot on.
I have always followed Duncan.
Without his injuries we'd be a lot richer and would have seen him play for England's senior squad for a while.
-
Just scored his first goal. 26th minutes against Swansea.

C'mon Duncan.

Delighted for him. Maybe Boro will see the best of him.
-
Well, he's won them the game and the fans are clamouring for him to sign a long term contract. Brilliant news for Dunc and fully deserved after the crap luck he's had.
-
Delighted for Dunc! Well done feller!
-
Just seen the goals on Quest. The first got a reflection, but the second was vintage Dunc.

Saw that in the Mirror 😁

The first one was vintage Dunc in the movement; pointed where he wants it and tearing after it. I was always impressed (from Boston Away in his first sub appearance) how direct and positive Duncan was in his play - he just wanted to take the ball up the field to create chances.
Finish was lucky, but everything before that was great.
-
Absolutely delighted for him - well done Duncan.
It would be an amazing story if he could get back into the Premier League.

Thanks
I think the first goal was heading right into the corner before it was deflected the other way.

Boro lead Millwall 3-0 at H/T...
Duncan's scored two of em... :)

Right. Someone get on the phone and tell Duncan he’s passed the audition and he can come back.
-
Its clear for 2 reasons that Sunderland have cocked up, one, Duncan when fit is a quality player, two and most irritatingly, had they extended his contract we would still have the sell on percentage
-
He was still on the contract he got in the premier league so I’m guessing that it wasn’t entirely their decision to release him. His wage demands may have been beyond them in league one. What was weird was that I think he was on the bench at the end of last season
-
Yes, a Sunderland supporter I know told me that he believed Duncan was the best paid player at the club, as he had a Premier League contract, as you say. There is also the question of how other players would react to an extended contract for him, if it matched existing terms.
-
It was on sky sports today that west Brom will buy him in January. He is a prolific scorer and played some of his best football under sam when at Sunderland. He could well be the forward west Brom need.
-
Apparently, Bagpus is having second thoughts on signing Dunc.
Hopefully some club in the Prem will sign him soon. He could do a good job at most clubs in the Prem.

Good business.
-
See he has just been voted EFL player of the month.
Had a good 24 hours
-
And Owen Dale won player of month for league 1.
-
Great to see he scored again tonight from centre forward.
-
And some goal it was too
Quite reminiscent of some he scored for us
-
Where can we see this goal, please?

Great goal, really pleased he's doing very well again.
-
Still a class act
-
Thank you for the link. This is some goal. After all his injury troubles I'm really pleased for Duncan and his family.
-
really good goal
-
Being selfish, it's a real shame our sell-on isn't still in place...
Absolutely made up for him, he deserves it after everything he's been through.
