Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Thoughts on Next Season
« on: April 21, 2010, 02:49:53 PM »
Top half of the table with a few cup victories (I don't mind which one) and another striker to enable us to play more attacking football.
I know we have done incredibly well this year (and I will watch Alty for as long as I can whatever happens) there is no denying it has been frustrating at times!
Oh, and to finish above Wrexham.

Ditto!

Im certain that Colin will start on Sat, hopefully wearing the captains armband.,. Play about 75 Mins then go off to standing ovation (hopefully the Cambridge fans will join in) as we would if it was one of there all time great players signing off.

The sun will be shining, Lots of retro tops (sadly I dont possess one)..

Hopefully the crowd will be swelled by the fact that it is Colin's last game and Cambridge bring plenty of fans as it the last game of the season..

Ohh and Alty win 2-1 Little and Senior  just to round things off nicely...

Cmon The Alty....

Sounds like the perfect day out for us all!  ;)

Look on the bright side (!) we're 5-4 up on aggregate, and if we get an away goal ...

The fight back is going to start in a few minutes.

Or, as they used to say on BBC in the 50's, "Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!"

PS: I was hoping for 3 points tonight but, at the moment, I think I'd settle for a draw!  :D

Is there someone called Matt Tubbs playing?
I haven't heard the commentators mention him yet?

Matthew Tubbs takes a shot. Stuart Coburn makes a save.

Don't say things like that, you'll jinx us!!!!!!!!!!!

Consider us jinxed  :( :( :'(

Barrow 2-1 up at kiddie and Wrexham only drawing at Oxford. That's good for us right?

am i missing something, regardless of gateshead result ebbsfleet are down as they cant catch fgr

They can overtake Eastbourne and Gateshead though

Richard Money was so short of reasons why his high-flying sharp-shooting professionals failed to muster even one goal he had to blame it on a bumpy pitch.

Quite surprised they didn't blame it on the icelandic volcano!  :D

By the way, whose pitch was it? Perhaps they need a groundsman like ours!

I think Wrexham fans need a reality check.
At present Wrexham are a mid table Conference club and nothing over the past two seasons suggests they will remain othewise.
Oxford fans have the same problem, they also expected to automatically return to the FL at the first attempt.
It would be fairer though if 3 teams from the conference got automatic promtion per season plus a play-off winner- Yip 4 up 4 down like between League 1 and 2.
Another thought is that maybe Wrexham should play in the Welsh League.

That will never happen in the lifetime of fans getting in for free vs Cambridge (i.e. ever)

This is because, this league (And the FL above us) have demonstrated over the years that fairness is a concept that is totally alien to them. It's all about money and protecting your own interests over integrity. You only have to look back to the fiasco of the Chester points protest to see that - and innumerable other things over recent years.

And don't get me thinking about the late 70's and the re-election fiascos.
Having said that, there's another reason to pull out all the stops tomorrow!

Are there any clubs that are not better than Wrexham?

V*cs and FGR are just two which spring to mind  ;)

4604
Surely there's still time for the club to make that happen (and bung another burger van at the corner of the Golf Rd and Pop side?)

I think it'd definitely pay off for us (especially if all us regulars paid full price anyway)

How fantastic would this be if it was one of the biggest gates of the season to say farewell to Colin?

Here's hoping everyone who can do goes along - and brings a friend or several!

Apart from anything else, it's the last chance for an Alty fix for several months!  :(
