I had the kids with me in the family stand, we heard some bad language from fans in that area. The two girls heard it quite clearly, as did I. Some was from the Southend supporters but some were also from the Alty fans I'm afraid. People should curb it in the family stand, and remember there are children in all parts of the ground, please.

For the time being, it isn't the family stand.

It contains away fans, those from Pop side, GRE and main stand.

Colourful language providing its not racist transphobic or homephoboic is to be expected its not. Football

People should be curbing their language around children anyway. End of.

If I don't ask questions, other people will - in fact they are. With a mass role out of an experimental treatment, and with more of these incidents than usual (apparently) this is no laughing matter. Why don't you get real about the 'lying, 'corrupt' pharmacetical industry (The Independent - back when they were allowed to report things properly)? It's not like these businesses don't have form on this sort of thing. Why are you so keen to cover up for these crooks?

There have reportedly been 21 sudden deaths of FIFA registered players so far this year, compared to 4.2 in an average year - and 2 last year. Like I say, people can draw their own conclusions, but it is certainly legitimate to ask questions, and potentially dangerous to try and brush it under the carpet. People have a right to know all the relevant risks/benefits if they are going to have these things (even if cost/benefit has apparently gone out of the window for the government). Trying to close down debate is really not helpful.

You mention Belgium, I think I've mentioned already there were three teenage cyclists at a Belgian club who had severe reactions early this year (The Brussels Times), leading to members being advised not to train or compete soon after taking these injections.
https://www.brusselstimes.com/belgium/181660/doctors-advise-against-intensive-sport-after-covid-vaccination/

And an Irish football player died earlier this year shortly after taking one. This is real (or at any rate doing a good impression of being real) and merits serious discussion.

Non Altrincham FC Talk / Two football league players collapse this week!
« on: November 26, 2021, 11:34:02 PM »
Hot on the heels of John Fleck collapsing on Tuesday playing for Sheffield United, Wigan Athletic player Charlie Wyke collapsed in training on Thursday. Is this the new normal? Those coincidences are mounting up, and some of us are drawing our own conclusions (including that nice Trevor Sinclair).

They have specially modified turnstiles so you can get in with a printer however they must be securely strapped to your back.

Made me chuckle!

Reminds me of the rules on swords when Barrow played Hartlepool a few years back (Hartlepool fans were going as St. George, foam swords were ok).

Just printed off the tickets.

£7.00 for a car park space at the ground. Haven’t been there before so at least I won’t have to hunt for a space anywhere. Anyway,  I expect the car will be gleaming after they have washed and valeted it ffs.
So can you not go without a printer (or smart phone)?

Maybe I'm being naive, but it reads to me like a complaint from a disgruntled neighbour to the ground.

Sometimes people want to ignore the most obvious answer. And let's face it, the work needs doing.

I think you are being extremely naive, which is ironic given how quick you are to pick up on what you perceive as naivety in others.

Why on earth would a disgruntled neighbour complain about the state of the terracing on the Golf Rd? How would they even know about it? The statement from the board makes it perfectly clear that the complaint came from someone they hoped would have come to them first. That would hardly apply to a disgruntled neighbour.

When have I suggested naivety in others? Genuine question if you think I've been a bit unreasonable in the past, I'm always happy to hold my hand up.

For me, the statement ('wish they'd come to us first') doesn't sound like an insider with an axe to grind - it reads like someone that's turned up to a game and then complained - we all have members within our friend and family circles that are only happy when moaning.

I don't sign up to this 'inside knowledge' either - any visit from a member of the council with two funtional eyes would have identified the ground is a mess.

Re: signed off fine at the start of the season - responding to a complaint means you have to be shown to be doing something, not a routine inspection. Of course the outcome would be different.

Sorry for being the voice of reason and I'll be sad to see that it's an inside job if I am indeed wrong.

Somebody spots something wrong and notifies the council / whomever.

Council confirms safety work needs doing, thus confirming that we Alty fans were in an unacceptable level of danger.

Whomever spotted the defects and started the repair works, I thank you. You did the right thing whether we like it or not.

You’re  in danger at every possible time in your life.

At home? Gas explosion
In the car? Car accident
Walking down the road? Hit by an asteroid

If you think some wonky walls, loose concrete and non running water to the new fan zone is “totally unacceptable” I’d suggest burying your head under a rock forever

Are you a structural engineer? What experience do.you have in the field?

I am quite happy to take my own risks in my personal life. When you're talking about public safety a very different mindset is required.

As for burying my head under a rock, perhaps that's what you have been doing as clearly  the horrors of Valley Parade, Heysel and Hillsborough have passed you by. Don't come back with "it's a totally different scale', we can refer to a collapsed wall at Birmingham City leading to the death of a 15 year old. Luckily nobody was seriously hurt at Caernarfon when a wall collapsed. There will be others I can't recall right now.
Cup match at Canal Street a few years back; Alty v Huddersfield in 1990.

Personally I might be more at risk crossing the golf course to get to the ground, but that doesn't mean others won't be at risk. And in any case, if there's rules about it, it's irrelevant what I might feel about it personally, we just have to go along with it, same as with the Barking (mad) and Dagenham business last season. At the end of the day, there's probably been a lot of new people coming to the ground this season, so I suppose there was always a chance something like this would happen.

You may have a p0int, and in hindsight, it is a pity that someone didn't report rubbish built up under the stand at Valley Parade to Bradford council in 1985 (whether they'd have done anything is another matter, but at least they'd have known). The trouble is, people tend not to think there's an issue until something happens, and it's easy enough to imagine what might potentially happen.

Point still stands though, that there was a horrendous trip hazard in the GRE/pop side corner for many months and nothing done. How "routine" are these visits? Why now? Did they take their eye off the ball for quite a long period of time on that corner? And how can you go from 7,800 odd to 1,390 in a few months?

Devastated if an Alty fan has done this.

They should be named. If they feel that strongly about the grounds health and safety then they should have the balls to stand up.

Could be anyone - remember the Solihull game? Though, thinking about it...

It still leaves the question, what about previous ground inspections? What has changed? For me, there is nothing currently in the ground remotely as dangerous as that big trip hazard we used to have between the GRE and the Popular side where, so far as I can tell, the material between the two steps of the terrace had eroded away, and where at least one person has been injured. Where were the council then? Why was that alright, but now most of the ground has to close? They owe us answers.

Have to concur with comments relating to responses recently from  hashtag, particularly on this thread.

I remember the Nantwich friendly and Jimmy Laurie... (PS trust you to take it so serious)

If you want more atmosphere, you're welcome to join in on the GRE rather than comment on whether the atmosphere is good or not on GRE

Thank you for your kind invitation to join in on the GRE.  I am sure that you will kindly be on hand there to show me to my disabled seat.

Would it need to be high and mighty like your comment, or would you be okay on floor like the rest of us?

Bring a stool like the folk on the pop side or the old school Workington fans if you like the atmosphere, there's less steps to GRE than the main stand too.

There's disabled wheelchair users who also watched from the front of The GRE corner

Like I said, many fans work hard to build atmosphere, too many on here and Facebook want to comment about an atmosphere or lack off without getting involved

Seems to me that Condates original comments were nothing but complimentary. I can't understand why you're having a go at him.
I can only say that we should be revelling in the direction the club is going in and being united in our support.
Sorry to be personal but you seem to have had an edge to some of your posts for a while now.
Rein it in a bit if you can. We're all on here because we're Alty fans aren't we?

Thank you Saughall for your intervention.

My original post was indeed supposed to be positive and complimentary to those who provided the fantastic support in the Golf Road on Saturday.  I agree with Parky who remarked that they were so vociferous that they virtually sucked the ball into the net for the equalizer.

I disagree. It was quite hard to hear them from the Chequers end for much of the second half, though to be fair, when they got going, they were properly loud at times. Admittedly it's difficult to get motivated against clubs like Boring Wood and Solihull Moors.

I thought a draw was fair. They took their chance. We had loads and took one.
it's still back to that point of if we had a 25 a year forward we would be top 3 . I thought we edged it . But was very close as you say

Sorry to keep on about this, but I've been crunching the numbers (again). It turns out that, up to and including the Woking game (and the Southport game), Tom Peers had scored an average of about one goal for every 160 minutes (plus stoppage time) of game time played. At that rate, if he played whole games for an entire 46 game season, he would get...  25 goals! (Incidentally he also has the best goals per time played up to the Woking game).

What I would like to/ know is, presuming we beat Gateshead, will we be anything near full capacity for Charlton?
given we are yet to see exactly what the issues are yet and then any time table and scale of works required . Coupled with tendering the work out and lead times etc . I would be stunned if anything significant changes in the next 4 to 8 weeks
Between us, we can put a jinx on tomorrow!  ;)

Yes but less than two and a half thousand? There's more than that just on the Chequers end and main stand side - unless additional areas are closed from Saturday.
