Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Bromley Match Thread
« on: December 13, 2021, 01:38:41 AM »
A couple of things are brought to mind by comments on this thread.
In no particular order
When I am trying to drive out of Golf Road post match I am horrified, petrified and disgusted even by people not only just setting sail across the road with no consideration of the vehicular traffic but make Abusive signs and comments toward drivers who have the temerity to not stop immediately.
Point 2 is that, given the revised regulations relating to the perimeter fence, there are going to be some disenchanted youngsters at the game. If you are the parent or guardian of one of these children please (and I know it's not going to be easy or pleasant) try to remain as compliant with the requests of the Stewards as possible.  Any significant issues tomorrow may adversely affect chances of a reasonable capacity over Christmas/New Year

Point 3
When I have been to both Old Trafford grounds, The Etihad and the Academy Stadium I have been searched, including being 'wanded' It took seconds and caused me no issues. I was similarly checked at the Southend game by a very polite steward who fully explained the process to me and those around me

Phil, people have a right to walk in the road, and rather more right than all those cyclists we get on the pavement along Manchester Road. It is up to motorists to be ready and avoid pedestrians in the road, they are not breaking any law. I have never had any issues. Or maybe you're the type of person who would call the police about children playing football in the street?

Some of the best problems I've ever seen complained about.

If we want a league standard team we need a league standard club.

You don't seem to take other people's problems very seriously do you? Of course it's a problem, I have been thinking along the same lines as One Foot in the Grave (Warrington? Wythenshawe Town?). I'll see how bad it gets - and hopefully some things will be better soon - but this nonsense is an issue for some of us, and the club could end up losing some long standing supporters.

YET....only 4 teams have scored more than we have.

It is a conundrum!

It could have a lot to do with our high scoring rate being linked to a meagre goal difference of +4

+4 in the NL is fantastic! I don't think there's been many times post Maunders that we've finished better than that at Conference level. I predicted a 14th to 16th place finish at the start of the season and I would be happy with that (apart from the NL not being much fun these days). It's a 5 year plan to get in the league and I think a serious challenge will have to wait for full time football and when we've sorted ground improvements - we just don't seem able to bid for the likes of Ashley Hemmings at the minute and have to hope we'll get lucky on a Piggott.

Never mind, maybe Macc will be good enough to play us one day!

P.S. I'd be well impressed if anyone could discuss the team and guess lineup for Tuesday! Maybe Peers again? No idea beyond that though.

I see that Ashley Hemmings scored for Kiddy yesterday and he also got their 1-0 winner against Grimsby in the second round of the cup.  We could do worse then to have him back if he became available under reasonable conditions.

I thought that he was a class player during his time with Alty and he always looked as though he could play well at a level or two above NLN.

He looked quality in the cup highlights. I seem to remember when he was with us he hardly ever lost the ball. I don't know if we could get him though I'd love to have him back.

Altrincham FC First Team / Strangest thing I ever saw on Saturday
« on: December 13, 2021, 12:34:48 AM »
A handful of us (less than ten I think) paid for entry at the Chequers End as instructed. It was throwing it down so in the end, they deccided to let us go on the Popular side like with away fans sometimes (I  was almost disappointed, I was ready to stay and try and outsing Bromley!). At half time we went round to the far corner by the new toilet block to get a drink and whatever, then obediently filed back to the pop side corner, and eventually left the ground at the Chequers end again - all for our own safety obviously! I don't know, maybe it makes sense as part of the bigger picture, but honestly, the absurdities of the petty bureaucrats never cease to amaze me. Ah well, hopefully it'll all be over soon. Word is Tuesday might be better - I'll know the world's gone mad if we have this for a CSC match...

Luckily, for sporting events its 10,000.

Where do you get that from? BBC sources say "4000 unseated outdoors"

I can't see us getting 4000 even for the Stockport match.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/59575982

"Any" unseated outdoor venue. The article could be clearer, but I don't think it's granting sport an exemption. Then again, I wouldn't expect better from the BBC after that Alty team formation they gave a while back...

608
So we're ok with 4000 standing plus the 1300 odd seats? If so, that'll be plenty!

Will it though? Wrexham have been getting massive crowds, our crowds are up, and we got over three and a half thousand against County even in the NLN. I was thinking potentially 5,000 plus. If everything went according to plan, obviously.

There is always going to be plausible deniability of course, but until we know more, I will say this, that I fully support any of our players that decide not to take controversial new medication that has been linked to this issue.

In other news, Facebook admits in court that fact checks are nothing more than opinion!

Non Altrincham FC Talk / More on heart attack deaths in footballers.
« on: December 09, 2021, 05:51:38 AM »
]https://dailyexpose.uk/2021/12/08/278-percent-increase-in-heart-attack-deaths-among-soccer-players/]

Seems that there really is an increase in heart problems in players this year, Amsterdam Alty. If you believe this article (and I dare say those who try hard enough may find some reason for not doing so). Always interested to hear any real evidence to shed more light on this of course...

As for my previous figure I quoted of 4.2 deaths in an average year, I don't know how they arrived at that, whether it was a longer time frame or whatever. Any further information obviously welcome. Full disclosure, I know nothing of this site linked above or its politics. If anyone has alternative information which they feel would shed more light on the apparent trend this year, share it by all means.

I would be much more interested in commentary on the data they provide rather than comments on the site itself, which I have no interest in. (That means you, London and co.).

(I.E. potentially ML). No blooming comment.
Enjoy

Non Altrincham FC Talk / Medical apartheid comes to Moss Lane too?
« on: December 08, 2021, 09:44:29 PM »
These ghastly measures apparently apply to unseated venues with a capacity of over 4,000.

So if Altrincham get their capacity back to 6,000, and get over 5,000 against Stockport or Wrexham (definitely possible) presumably such a match would be covered.

For myself, I have no intention of collaborating in any way with such discriminatory measures, and maybe some other people won't collaborate either.

Non Altrincham FC Talk / Medical apartheid comes to the National League!
« on: December 08, 2021, 09:26:56 PM »
Venues with crowds of over 10,000 will now need proof of health compliance from next Wednesday (test or experimental "vaccine") - and Notts County have had over 10,000, this season, though whether it will affect the Trophy tie, I don't know.

A dark day, and one that has been coming for a while.

And if you don't like the word apartheid, the Nigerian High Commissioner used it first over travel restrictions. And besides, it is accurate.

Non Altrincham FC Talk / A Scottish rugby international died as well.
« on: December 05, 2021, 10:40:18 PM »
The 26th of November, the same week as those three football players collapsed. The back row was only 26 years old. So four incidents involving high level athletes in one week, including one death. Plus two the next week involving fans at matches.

Look, I hope Amsterdam Alty is right and that nothing unusual is happening. But there seem to have been a lot of these incidents recently. Whether it's because of a new medication that people are taking, or because of stress and missed medication caused by what's been going on recently, or something else entirely, or just a lot of coincidences, I would like to know.

615
(Southampton-Leicester and Watford-Chelsea).

And the Wigan and Sheffield United players weren't even the only ones last week. Sheriff Tiraspol v. Real Madrid also saw a player collapse. Yes, of course there have been incidents in previous years, but this seems to be every week at the moment, and some people are rightly asking questions in these extraordinary times.
