Indeed - without them we'd be struggling.

only just picked up on this..I agree with most of the comments above.

Couple of thoughts...its a tough job being any non-league chairman...limited budgets, high degree of local public exposure, expectations that are understandable very high, but also very hard to achieve on those budgets. And attracting investment is tough, because in truth non-league football isn't a great investment in the traditional sense so you are looking for people investing into a subset of the local community rather than investing to make the more normal financial returns.

Also, better the devil you know. Sure he made mistakes (few people in that job wouldn't), but lets see who we get to replace him. Look what happened to Macc, Vics to namer but 2.

I'm afraid you've managed to produce the perfect filter on the story

And that filter is clogged, and not fit for purpose.

The FA competitions draw algorithm will surely generate a trip to Chester, Southport or Stockport County.
Indeed. Next two rounds will probably take us to Southport and Chester, in that order. Hopefully Stockport will have been knocked out by then.

Relieved to be proved wrong, especially if it wiped the smug grin off Durrell's face. Of course, since it's written in the stars that we play the same clubs in both Cup and Trophy, we can look forward to visiting Chester yet again after their win at Brackley.

Boston United can't look forward at all after losing at Atherton Collieries  :D

It could work out cheaper to fly abroad and watch it there 😆

Not sure of this but maybe you can watch it here via a stream ?

Or alternatively you can actually go to the game and enjoy the atmosphere.

For those interested,  I got the chance to write about this and diss Neil Young in the process

Nice dig at our "much missed" former manager  ;)

A man whose dedication to bettering the opportunities for non-league clubs was practically unrivalled. Without his efforts heaven knows where we'd be today.

Right. Radical view coming up, and I expect to be slaughtered by some of you.

I know a lot of Alty fans were unhappy when we fielded a weakened team against Stockport last season - but this time we absolutely must do in my opinion. The FA Trophy is, to my mind, third in our pecking order after the FA Cup tie at Portsmouth and the increasing chance of another crack at the playoffs.

Portsmouth is the immediate priority - the financial possibilities for the club are endless. The prospect of an awayday at Mourinho's new employers, or something similar, is mouthwatering. But if we can get Pompey back to Moss Lane, it'll be a dead cert for live TV, and even if it were the end of our run it would generate tremendous financial benefits, as well as putting the club in the public consciousnesses and attracting potential sponsors and investors.

I firmly believe that we cannot afford to lose key players to injury or suspension (Andy White is only one booking away from a ban).

I'd rest Thompson, White, Hannigan, Johnston, and Hulme. Yes, I know Joel Torrance in goal is a massive shout but I believe he's a tremendous prospect, and Densmore, Jones, Mullarkey, and Hampson, bolstered by Moult, are perfectly capable of protecting him.

If we lose at Bootham  Crescent the world won't end. If we lose at Fratton Park because key players are missing THAT would be a disaster.

After the substitutions we switched to 4-5-1 and I suspect PP is considering this for Portsmouth. Gateshead were allowed plenty of possession, but never seriously troubled our defence.

Hope that doesn’t affect our preparations for the 4th round.
Nah - we can put the youth team out for it.

Gateshead have been going well, and will give us a stiff workout. I take us to win 2-1.

If we score a technically better goal this season than Shaun Densmore's today I will be amazed. Bursting to see it again on Robins TV.

I'd justed texted Hash to say we wouldn't win when we scored those two quick goals. Hereford basically folded from then, apart from the first few minutes of the second half (obvs had their arses kicked by the manager). I think they're a better side than they showed today, which makes our win even more outstanding.

Any news on Tom Hannigan ?

Thanks Stan. Fabulous bit of skill from Jordan, and his interview reveals the whole story.

I find it surprising that a club the size of Portsmouth don't offer electronic ticketing. If little Kings Lynn can manage it....

Hi, First Post I'm a Portsmouth Season Ticket Holder. All our ticketing is electronic in one way or the other.
Fratton Parks Capacity is just over 19,000 of which for league games there are 14,500 season ticket holders who have smart cards.
Other tickets are mostly issued by Ticketmaster who issue a print at home/ mobile barcode which is read by the automatic turnstiles.
Away tickets are generally sold by the visiting club as they receive commission on the ticket sales under EFL regs. and it allows them to vet which people can buy tickets. At Pompey for instance if you are a home season ticket holder you can also be an away season ticket holder where you guarantee to buy an away ticket for every match and get first chance where the allocation is small.

Thanks Paul - that sounds well organized, and makes perfect sense.

Second best for the first 15 then bossed it.

My mom was Williams and special mention to Malarkey who superb with little game time behind him.

As Darlington lost 5-1 today I suspect we'll score 7 on Tuesday
What Darlington did is irrelevant. We play Gateshead on Tuesday, and they'll be fresh from their free weekend.
