Chesterfield sign Asante

Interesting they've procured some extra fire power when keeping goals out seems to be the big issue - he wont be cheap!

But it does show signing a team's most important goalscorer mid-season is possible.

He has followed the manager.

He didn't have to; he was contracted to Gloucester not his manager. I assume there's been compensation as I imagine he wasn't on a non-contract....

He was playing for a full time club and has moved to another full time club where there is an infinitely better chance of furthering his career.

Reading the Spirites forum it would seem that their defensive frailties were caused by a manager who insisted on playing three at the back. Presumably the new manager will take a different approach.

McDonald has played for less than ninety minutes so far and had little opportunity against the Bromley defence as they had very understandably "parked the bus" once they got their early goal. I'd like to see what he can do against a team that still needs to score.

He went for an "undisclosed fee" as there was a release clause in his contract if a club from a higher division came in for him, As part, of the agreement, Chesterfield won't try to sign any other Gloucester City players., according to Non-League Today.

Gloucester (Aside from Curzon) have the worst goal difference in the North top half. They've kept one clean sheet. So it'll be interesting to break the mental attitude they've got of "throwing it away".

Alongside Curtis Miller, I think McDonald could do with a solid starting run in the league below (Injuries and our surprise return in August won't really allow us to bed players this way)

That's a severe problem; our rivals sign top Conference North goals scorer; were signing two players yet to play Conference North level.

They're full time - we aren't.

We cut our cloth accordingly, and we'll be OK at this level doing so, from what I've seen so far.
